I'm selling some stuff again on FB Marketplace...or trying...may not actually have any luck. An acquaintance from my neighborhood said she would take one of my Halloween costumes for her great-nieces. It's $10. I would kind of like my $10 since it was some effort to find everything, take pics, and list it, and I told the kids $ will go in our "basement cool zone" fund.
Is it weird if I DON'T say "you can just have it?"

Are you saying, you listed something for sale for $10, someone agreed to that. Question is, should you follow through with charging the price they agreed to?

Basically yes. I just felt weird b/c I know her.
It IS on my porch now with my little cash box but I was second-guessing myself.
I charge acquaintances all the time, if they respond to a post where I’m selling something. On rare occasion something won’t sell, or I’ll specifically offer it to someone I know for free because I want to get it out of my house. But unless you said “Hey Agnes, you mentioned you were looking for this and I happen to have it and want to get rid of it, please just take it off my hands” then you are 100% okay to ask her for $10.

From the buyers perspective, I always felt bad when acquaintances didn’t charge me! A mom in my moms group had two girls like I did but her youngest was a few years older than my oldest. I was interested in a few things she was selling over time and she always just gave it to me for free and I felt bad about it. I was happy to pay!
It's not weird and I'm sure she is expecting to pay for it, but I totally get where you are coming from. I had the same situation before and it felt like I was supposed to just give it away for free....so I pretended not to see the message 🤐
If it makes you feel better, I responded to a post to buy a dry erase easel from a neighborhood mom acquaintance. DS wanted one for his birthday of all things. She set it outside for us and I sent the husband over to her house to pick it up. In the meantime, I sent her $10 by Venmo to pay for it.
After he got the item, I sent her a message to thank her. She wrote back that she had posted it for $15. I immediately apologized and sent another $5. I did not mean to shortchange her, I had completely forgotten the list price.
