The "people are idiots" consequence of real time fact checking, as seen in the presidential debate, is that viewers "feel" that the moderators are being unfair if most of the lies are coming from a single candidate. So the criticism of the last debate was that Trump was picked on since the moderators pushed back on his lies.

I’m almost too nervous to watch this. I love Walz and I know media reports have been that he is scared he’ll mess it up for Kamala. I don’t think I can stand to see JD Vance say mean things to him.
