This is one of two 5 stars I gave this year, but I tend to like books others don’t (and vice versa).

It did take a minute to get into the writing though.

I think I might skip this one. Cerulean Sea and Under the Whispering Door were so wonderful, but In the Lives of Puppets was not that great. I really hope he figures it out because it seems like he’s capable of writing great stories, but his recent attempts don’t leave me feeling very optimistic.

Yeah, it’s better when the message is more subtle. The newer ones are like being beaten over the head with Twitter rants.

I liked this one a lot. I also gave it 5 stars but it is slow at times. No shame in moving on from a book that isn’t speaking to you though.

Okay, I “finished” (skimmed) the rest of The God of the Woods. I’ll give it 3*. Really an unsatisfying read for me.
