This week was really busy, upsetting, and just kind of a mess. I'm really glad it's almost over. I told DH that I'm going to start matching his energy for all holidays and birthdays. He said... nothing.
The weekend will be busy. DD2 has her first school soccer game after school today a few towns over. She doesn't have any home games this season, so I'm traveling to the closer games to watch, so I'll head over. Tomorrow DD2 is playing with her town rec team, and then has tryouts for spring travel soccer. She has to miss the next round because she has a club game, so hopefully she can do well tomorrow. I think DD1 is having a friend over.
There is a Saturday Night Lights night at school this weekend as well. I had to bring the kids alone last year in the rain. I'm not attending this year. I don't even know if the kids want to go, but I'm not doing it. Dh can figure it out.
Sunday is DD1's birthday. DD2 has a game out of state, then we'll come back and do something to celebrate DD1. She already had a friend sleep over to celebrate last weekend, knowing that this weekend was going to be packed solid and next weekend is a tournament weekend for DD2. So maybe just have my parents over for dinner and cake to celebrate. My dad's birthday is next week so I'm hoping that my mom didn't forget that Sunday is DD1's birthday and plan something for my dad. That is totally within the realm of possibility - she's done it before.

Oldest work up sick to her stomach and, unusually, felt bad enough that she got H and I up. She’s home, now sound asleep. My neighbor however is taking a tree down loud enough that my house just vibrated and I’m engaged in a stare down with the dog. Don’t bark and wake her up you furry ahole.
Not sure about the weekend. We’re supposed to see Wild Robot with friends but that will depend on what shape DD wakes up in.
Not too bad of a week. I'm working from home today and have high hopes of getting my house cleaned during breaks. I have our annual report due for the board, so I am going to use the peace and quiet of my house to go over it in detail before I send it to print.
Very excited Dd is coming home this afternoon. She wants to go to our neighborhood bar and grill for a burger. Then come home and watch Charlie Brown Halloween and a scary movie, so that's what we'll do.
Tomorrow DH and I booked a tee time at the local golf club near the house. I'm excited, this is the first time we'll play together. We're both terrible, so we'll fudge the rules a bit, or we'll probably never make it through the course. Then Dd wants to have a fire and weenie roast.
At some point I need to make a pot of chili and a pot of creamy chicken noodle per dd and her roommates request to send back.
This weekend was shaping up to be pure insanity with back to back activities but DH and I decided to just cancel some of the plans and not stress ourselves out and I am so glad we did! It feels good to have built in down time for everyone.
Tonight DD2 has rehearsal and DS has plans with a friend, so I'll get some one on one time with DD1. I might take her out to dinner or something since we haven't done a mom/daughter date in a long time. Tomorrow is more rehearsal for DD2. Then we're all going to the amusement park Halloween night with haunted houses in the evening. We're meeting up with a bunch of friends from school. The girls have decided that they are going into one of the haunted houses altogether as a group with their friends. We always go to the park and walk around the Halloween stuff, but they've never been brave enough to actually go in one of the haunted houses. We'll see how it turns out! They're a wimpy bunch haha All of the moms were texting about it last night, super skeptical that they will actually do it.
Sunday we've got a brunch in the morning for my friend's birthday and then we're just relaxing the rest of the day. We may try to put the TV on the deck to watch football outside if the weather is nice enough!
And DH and I leave for vacation in 1 week! So I need to spend some time gathering up and packing my stuff. I can't wait for a tropical break! We so desperately need it. Lots of work and home stress lately.
DD had a 7 am dentist appt this morning. Now that she’s in middle school, she really doesn’t like to miss it for anything. I appreciate that she willingly got up and out the door early without complaints. So I’m at the dentist now.
Tonight one of our friends (another parent we’ve gotten to know through DD’s softball) and his wife invited us out with some friends for his birthday. So we got a sitter and that should be fun.
Tomorrow we have a DS2 soccer game and DS1 baseball clinic. DS1 could technically make part of his soccer game and the baseball clinic, but in the interest of everyone’s sanity and not racing from place to place, we just picked one. Then I offered to take DS1 and a couple friends to an escape room.
DD has a bday party for a school friend I’ve never met. They’re driving the girls 30 min on the freeway to a haunted house after having pizza locally. Originally I wasn’t going to let her go to the second part since I’ve never met the parents. But a couple of DD’s close friends whose judgement I trust are letting their kids go. So as long as things seem normal when I drop off for the pizza part, I think I’ll let her go. I am really glad she has a phone now for these situations just in case.
Sunday DD has a softball practice on the beach (for team building as much as conditioning I’m sure) and then I have the dog training class in the afternoon. It will be so nice to not have one parent gone all day for sports that day.
Oh! And funny weekend project that I'll be working on - teaching the girls how to shave their armpits and legs. They both asked me to show them and buy them razors, but last night they were both terrified to actually use it. So we'll be spending the weekend working up the courage to use the razors for the first time. LOL Parenting tween girls, not for the faint of heart!

If they don't get the hang of it, we started dd off with a woman's electric razor. Couldn't cut herself if she tried.

That's actually what I got them both! It's the same style I had to use when I was on blood thinners because it's impossible to cut yourself with it. But they were still scared to use it. I also inadvertently mortified them when I was showing them how the razor turns on in the kitchen, in front of their step dad. They were ready to kill me.

It was raining so hard this morning that it woke me up. I drove DS to school so he wouldn't be soaked while waiting for the bus and decided to treat myself to Starbucks since I haven't done that in a long time. So much for mowing the lawn at lunch time today!
Tomorrow, we have a first birthday party for Beau's cousin's son. I went crazy buying a bunch of toys and books that DS loved at that age and it brought back some good memories.
Sunday, we plan on going riding to our local ORV park unless the weather is terrible. Beau's cousin bought a new bike and wanted to get the group together to try it out. However, Beau said that his grandson would be coming, so that means we're stuck on the one kiddie trail or we break up our group. I'm torn because I don't like riding without Beau since he would stay and ride with his grandson, but I also don't want to be stuck on the kiddie trail all day.
I have DS's birthday party tonight with friends, and tomorrow with my in-laws. DD has a soccer game on Sunday but otherwise free the rest of Sunday which will be nice to recover from all the parties I am hosting.
The college football team plays tonight so gymnastics was canceled as a few of thr coaches have tickets. Rain expected this afternoon and tomorrow morning so our outside projects are on hold.
Today I'm having a lazy off day. Took DD to school (she asks 6 times to not go or be picked up early in the 20 minutes i was with her), came home and went back to bed with the dog. I'll wait until the football game starts to go out and run errands.
