Middle school homecoming dress?

My middle school daughter just decided she does want to go to the middle school dance, which is in a little over a week. She says all her friends “just go to the mall” to get a dress. I looked online at the department stores at our mall, but I’m not sure there is really anywhere else to shop at the mall? So many stores have left the mall.

Any suggestions to shop for a dress for a size 14 girl? Best for our schedule would be order some things online and return what doesn’t fit. I’m primarily only seeing dresses that would be too big (only women’s sizing) and/or extremely skimpy dresses. Definitely don’t think she needs to wear something that is extra modest, but also not sure she needs a tiny sleeveless dress that her butt hangs out?!

Any teen-tween parents with ideas where to look??

Dillards (the children’s section has tween dresses that are the exact same as the juniors section) and Windsor seem to be the two go-tos near me.

I'd check out Dillard's or Macy's as mentioned above. Altar'd State might fit her in an XS or XXS. Hollister could also work if the dance leans casual.

It may be more high school appropriate than middle school, but check out Windsor. We have them at the malls near us, but online you can filter by color, length, neckline, etc.

We went to Macy's but made an appointment with for her to try on different dresses. We gave them her size and taste and we went from there.

For high school….
Like the only places to go just about are Macy’s and Windsor at Mayfair, or JCP. Those are the stores we visited.

The dresses are all so ridiculously skimpy and tight.

Many come in zero or xS so hopefully that would work.

My high schooler has found dresses at Von Mauer, Dry Goods and Windsor. Windsor are definitely skimpier than the ones she got at the other places. But it does depend on the dress and sizing as well as the body type.

Thanks all. I looked at some on Amazon with her and ordered some. Enough will be here by Sunday that we can always run out to the mall later in the day if needed.

Sounds like there is a Windsor there and Macys.
