Can we do a diagnose me post?

I’ll call the doctor on Monday but until then…

I noticed a lump on my back today. Positioned approximately near the bottom of the rib cage but you know… on the back.
It’s about the size of a quarter and not painful.

I had H look at it and he said there is no visible bump/indication anything is wrong. However it’s very noticeable when you touch it.

Any idea what it could be?

I have a similar-sounding lump on my back that freaks me out. Doctors said it's probably a lipoma & shrugged it off. Two years ago I did make them measure it and document its size in my chart just in case it gets bigger.

Don't push it too hard, I have one on the back of my shoulder and my wonderful child pushed it so hard it became infected.

Could be a lipoma, which is a bunch of fatty tissue all gathered in one place. It is usually benign in nature and only needs to be removed if bothersome (i.e. rubs on your bra strap). Something like this would be visualized by ultrasound, so maybe just ask your doc for a referral for an US and go from there.

I have one too that I have had as long as I can remember. I’ve never had it looked at, but it’s never changed either. It’s kind of flat, but the size of a nickel.

I have had a lipoma in about that spot for several years. My dermatologist would remove it but I just haven’t made the appointment.It doesn’t bother me, more than one doctor has said it’s no problem, and I think the healing process would be annoying in that spot.
