If you’ve had side effects from a tetanus shot, how soon did they start? I had a shot at noon on Tuesday and woke up feeling like hot garbage. All of my symptoms are consistent with known side effects, but at 40 hours post shot is it that or am I just sick?

heygrey, my only side effect was that I had a giant lump on my arm at the injection site and that lasted about a week. I've definitely heard that you can get flu-like symptoms with it, but not sure how long they normally last.

I went and saw Ina Garten last night and really enjoyed it. I'm not a mega fan or anything and was originally supposed to go with my Mom and SIL. My Mom got stuck in FL because of the Hurricane and my SIL was sick and so I ended up going with my other SIL and a friend of hers. Laura Linney was the moderator which I didn't know, and I am a huge fan of hers, so that was a nice surprise.

heygrey, My arm usually gets really sore for a few days with a tetanus shot. It may also get warm and red during that time. I've never experienced flu like symptoms. Might be time to message your doctor on the portal.

We bought a house 3 years ago with a security alarm that we've never used. Last night it started going off around 2am, clearly some glitch, and we had no idea WTF to do to turn it off. I vaguely remembered the realtor telling us that the security code was a year in the 20th century so I went through the latter half of the 1900s before I finally got it right and the damn thing turned off. FFS.

Unfortunately we do not have the ease of a portal in Canada, but I will call when they open. This is also part of a worksafe claim because it was a work place injury that required the shot so it’s another layer of paperwork if I take a sick day.

An acquaintance of mine has a completely unhinged Trump display on their very prominent property.

It is being regularly discussed on various social media outlets and I can't look away. In person, they are actually not what you would expect based on their signage, and while I'm not 100% surprised to learn they are Trump voters, I am pretty shocked by their, um, extreme enthusiasm for him. I had no beef with them prior to this but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't enjoying all the assumptions and speculation being thrown around about them.

H is a blanket stealer (new behavior for him). Now that the nights have turned cold I keep waking up cold only to realize I just have the sheet or one of our two blankets on me. I'm so tired due to multiple nights of very broken sleep.

I'm pretty sad today, my big pink handroanthus tree toppled over in the storm last night. A builder bought the previously wooded lot a few weeks ago and just cleared it last week- they totally fucked up the roots on that side and it just didn't have enough time to recover. At least it fell politely in our yard, not blocking the street or hitting powerlines or structures.

Our bananas are all toast and our PVC fence panels were all over the place, so if it ever stops raining we will have to start reassembling that.

But we somehow managed.to keep our electricity up, despite major outages all around us. An extended power outage would definitely make this so much worse.

I am helping with a voter registration drive at work today, but so far nobody has come by! It's been going on all week so at least there have been some registrations- but our clinic seems kind of slow this morning and I think some of our clients who are here may not be citizens anyway.

I love that it screams October. I'd wear it with skinny jeans and booties to the pumpkin patch. But I wear heart sweaters in February, so... lol

It’s my Friday! We’re flying to Nashville tomorrow for our second annual Jason Isbell double-show weekend. I have a lot to do after work, I haven’t started packing at all. But it’s only 2 days and pretty casual so shouldn’t be too bad.

I’m going to a wedding this weekend in the NorthEast that is outside! I just reviewed the wedding website and texted my friend/the groom to make sure I was reading it correctly lol. Why?!? It’s with some friends/former roommates, some of whom I haven’t seen in 10 years, so I’m looking forward to it and a bit of time away but I hate being cold! Luckily my flight doesn’t leave until 9pm tomorrow night so I have some time tomorrow to figure out what to wear and go buy something if needed so I can be warm…

I recently bought this sweater. I thought it was cute, but it came and I was like nope, crosses the line.
I do have a black sweatshirt with spiderwebs that I wear during Oct. though. I feel like it's subtle enough to be halloweeny without being overly kitschy.

I went to an outdoor wedding last year in mid November in Pennsylvania.  It was so cold and it was drizzling.  They were kind enough to have throw blankets for everyone.  Needless to say I was completely wrapped up in that thing!

Back in the spring, we got a Save the Date for a wedding. The bride is the stepdaughter of one of H’s close friends. We’ve known her (and her mom) for about 9-10 years now, but definitely aren’t close to the stepdaughter. It was nice to be included.

This summer, the parents were over to hang out, and we chatted about the wedding and plans. Cool. I was never invited to any showers, but I wasn’t surprised about it.

It occurred to me a couple weeks ago that we hadn’t received an invitation yet. The wedding is next weekend. I checked the wedding website, which has an RSVP option, and our names weren’t on the list. Guess we didn’t make the final cut? I’m not sad or mad about not having to go to the wedding, but it’s soooo weird to me that we got a Save the Date and no invite.

We were on vacation last week and the cat is always very clingy when we get back from being gone. He's taken it to a new level this time and I love him, but he cares nothing for others personal space. He's been trying to sleep on my head every night. It's like he can't get close enough. He's always slept with us, but usually in-between H and I, curled up by our legs. I tried to kick him out last night and he just meowed (if you could call it that, it sounded more like he was going through an exorcism) and clawed at the bedroom door. I need him to get back to his chill self so I can get a full night of sleep!

I've been a day ahead all week and am so upset it's not Friday.

I thought I was doing better with exercise and getting stronger, but yesterday we had a full building evacuation drill at work and I had to walk down 18 flights of stairs. For the rest of the day my legs were jelly and kept giving out. Today they are on fire.

I posted a while back about our friend vacation destination dilemma (https://pandce.proboards.com/thread/642564/february-group-trip-destinations).  In the midst of a really shitty week, it is a bright spot to say that I booked flights this AM!

We are going back to Costa Rica, just the two families.  We're going into San Jose this time instead of Liberia, and looking to explore new areas.  My kids will be thrilled when I tell them.

Since we're going to miss the family that didn't want to go outside the US, we're planning a 2nd trip to California for spring break/Easter to visit both families (they live near one another).  Our spring breaks don't line up exactly, but we can visit the family with preschool age kids during the part that is our spring break and not the other Costa Rica trip family's break, and then all spend Easter together.  <3

Commisseration. 

Last night DS (5) climbed in our bed around 1am citing bad dream.  He stayed, and pillow-stole, and thrashed, until 5:15 when I finally carried him back to his own bed and tucked him back in.  

H woke up at normal time and asked "did I dream DS was here?  or was it you kicking?"

Oh honey no.
