My daughter (15) wants to go to a Don Toliver show at Tenple with two friends (both 16). Temple is in not in a great part of Philly (like…they had to run off the field at at field hockey game yesterday bc of gunfire in the area). I’m not worried about the show itself but I’m nervous to have them have to wait outside for someone to pick them up after the show. What say you, working parents? Let her go?
I wouldn’t. Even the most street smart teen can only do so much to deal with random gunfire or other crime, there’s just no need to risk it.
So over a month ago we set up plans for when we would all see DD2’s play. DH’s ex is even on board with bringing DS so that he doesn’t miss it. And then tonight DH goes “oh, so I think I have to go in to work that night. I scheduled a meeting. But it’s not like she’s the lead, does it really matter if I miss it?”
Uh yes, it does matter. It’s a Shakespeare play and she has a real speaking role and she’s so, so proud of it. She would be heartbroken.
It drives me crazy how little value he places on their theater stuff. DS can go an entire soccer game without touching the ball, but DH is at every one. But all three kids do school plays and every time he is so dismissive of them only being in the chorus or not having a big part. I’m super annoyed at him right now.
Annoying. Finally spoke with the recruiter at the company I've been talking to (going backwards, as we do in my industry.. seems like we generally identify a candidate, THEN post a job. It's dumb. When I got hired at my last job, I had to wait two months for them to post the job and get me an actual offer). The salary range they posted isn't even in their budget. It's what they *could* pay someone in that position, not what they're budgeting for that position. WHAT'S THE POINT OF POSTING A SALARY RANGE IF YOU'RE NOT WILLING TO PAY IT?
Would I be willing to accept 76% of prior salary? I dunno. Would I want to? No. Is there a possibility I might take it? Sure. But I don't want to deal in hypotheticals. I meet every box on your check list and some you haven't even considered putting on the list. Put an actual offer on the table, give it a 5 day deadline so you're not caught up and unable to put an offer letter out to someone else if you find them, and I'll actually consider it and give you an actual answer.
