It's funny to see this thread today, because I heard Weezer's Africa on the radio yesterday and was thinking about how I like it so much better than the original.

Lol I like Leo's Africa. And Disturbed's The Sound of Silence is amazing.
Nope - I like the Dolly version better. I think that the way she presents it is more in keeping with the meaning of the lyrics. You can feel the sadness in her voice.
Hurt is easily my favorite remake. I don’t even like the original.
Do you know what I will Always love you is about?
She was leaving the Porter Wagoner Show. He was very hurt and felt betrayed. She wrote the song for him and he produced it as their goodbye show.
Were you asking me? If so, yes. But there's still sadness. That said, even with the meaning that most people associate with the song, I still like the Dolly version better because of the sadness.
Have you ever seen the rain?—Willie Nelson (Sass Jordan’s version is good too)
Hardcore PJ fans have very strong feelings about Last Kiss apparently. They widely hate it and anyone who likes it is considered a poser fan or something. (I’m not a hardcore fan but my ex FI was so I know wayyyy more about PJ than anyone needs to).
Kind of a reverse of the OP, but I made the weird discovery one day that “Don’t Turn Around” by Ace of Base is a cover of a Tina Turner song. I downloaded that and I actually love it. It’s totally different than the AOB version.
I loved that song so much when I heard it in the movie Fear and I went to a record store to try and buy the soundtrack. I had no idea who the artist was or that it was a cover at the time. So I asked the guy there for the Fear soundtrack and he schooled me that the song wasn’t on the soundtrack because they hadn’t gotten permission or something to use it. But he got me The Sundays album so I bought that instead.
