Nonny - I heard the Cash version of Hurt before I heard the original. Now when I hear the Nine Inch Nails version it makes my skin crawl. Cash did it better!

From various articles, I know that Trent Reznor went through a lot of feels about the whole thing. First he was flattered, then he was like, wait OMG what's he done with my song that's so personal to me, and then finally acceptance that Cash's version was *good* and now it's kind of Cash's song.

I agree with your second two. For Hurt I think they're both equally as good. But I'm a big NIN fan.

At one of the Pearl Jam concerts this year Eddie covered Hurt. As much as I love PJ, he didn't do it justice. But the guy behind me was like "Dude he's covering Cash!" And I (in my head) was like "No, he's covering Reznor!" 😂

The song is called The Sounds of Silence, but yes, I love that version too! My kids are currently obsessed with the Pentatonix version of it.

Nope - I like the Dolly version better. I think that the way she presents it is more in keeping with the meaning of the lyrics. You can feel the sadness in her voice.

Hurt is easily my favorite remake. I don’t even like the original.

I like The Chicks' version of Landslide better than the Fleetwood Mac version, although both are excellent. I think I just prefer the harmonies they give it.

yeah... I had a *duh* moment and couldn't think of the title. Figured the first four words were recognizable enough that people would know what I meant 😊

Do you know what I will Always love you is about?

She was leaving the Porter Wagoner Show. He was very hurt and felt betrayed. She wrote the song for him and he produced it as their goodbye show.
