I just bought the most flattering pants I have ever put on my body. They are very wide legged black pants with a high waist (Jones NY that I found at TJMaxx for $24). Now my issue is that I’ve been buying shirts and sweaters long enough to cover my butt for years, which look terrible with these fabulous pants. So…. I can’t believe I’m asking this, but where do I find shorter shirts and sweaters? Not exactly cropped but borderline cropped, especially compared to the tunics I normally buy? Anyone have any they like?
I got a pair of pants like that from Anthropologie, and they have a bunch of shirts cut to the waist that look good with them. Make sure you look at the sales area.
Also TJ Maxx. Try the junior section (do they call it Mode in the states?) if you don't have luck in the women's section. I have several crop t-shirts that still hit a couple inches below the top of my pants and I have a cardigan that is the perfect length and I tuck in a snug tank under it. I got all of them in the junior section. It's a game of trying on a lot and finding a few good items.
Lands End has a couple of shorter, but not super cropped, length sweaters and tops. I'm a petite and they hit just below my waist. They're running a 50% sale now.
I really like these. I bought it in a few colors, and they're on sale with a checkbox right now. I do NOT wear it off the shoulder - that is not me - and it looks nice with just a wide neck. I've gotten a lot of compliments on them.
Ugh, I wish I had the confidence to tuck things in. I’m too self-conscious about my stomach area to feel at all confident with anything tucked. I used to love body suits. Maybe I’ll give one a try with some sort of short cardigan and see if I have the nerve to leave the house in it.
Rant: I’m 5’10 and pretty reliably a size 12. I know in my logical mind that I’m not super fat, though I just crossed over into the overweight category this year according to my BMI. But omg, I have so many body issues. I need to get a handle on myself.

I watch all sorts of how to style yourself videos and they all say that tucking and belting at the smallest part of your waist make your waist defined and lless bulky. It's hard for me to get the confidence to do this but I try and do look better when I do.
