Friday: Off, wandered around Costco Sat.: Ebike Sunday: Ebike (preriding the course) + Cyclocross
I'm so tired. For some reason my body woke up at 5 am, all day at a CX race taking photos and racing. I did catch a little siesta during the Women's Category 1/2/3 race (expert riders--I'm a Cat. 3)....oops, no pictures.
There was no need to drop my pace like that. It's not helpful for marathon day, or for my taper. This is my first marathon, I'm just seeking to finish it and run consistently, somewhere probably in the 10:01-10:59 range for an average. I just had a really tough week and that's how it came out. I need to be more disciplined from here out. 13 days until race day! I am currently making all the lists, and all the contingency (weather, etc.) lists.
We had a long weekend with Indigenous Peoples Day so I added Monday F: 23.6 m ride** S: rest S: 9.5 off road/mountain trail. It was really rock hiking/biking, really. Super unsafe, imo M: 36.6m ride
**I am hella proud of myself bc I met my annual goal of 1000 miles on Friday. As of today, I’m at 1064 miles YTD.
I have literally nothing to contribute this weekend since I spent it not working out in any capacity but I am here to cheer on the rest of you! Yay for upcoming marathons and goals and getting out there at all!
I can't believe I'm less than 2 weeks out from MCM. I am anxiously awaiting the weather forecast and crossing my fingers for 50s and overcast!
Weather channel currently says partly cloudy, low of 55, high of 70, 13% chance precipitation. A little warmer than ideal, but not terrible! Hopefully <60 for a good portion of the race, although I hear the bridge crossing near the end can be sunny and rough. No rain in the forecast until PM showers 2 days later.
So I was supposed to run a 100 miler two weeks ago, but it was cancelled due to crazy flooding with Hurricane Helene. I signed up for the 100 mile Canal Corridor Race in Ohio since we were going to be in Ohio for my DS baseball tournament.
I'm happy to say I finished my 100 miler in 23:01:21 in the pouring rain. I was the 15th female finisher out of 50 that entered. It had started raining and thundering and lightning about 4 hours ago or so. It was miserably cold but I'm not sure I would have finished under 24 if it hadn't happened. I had been slowing and fatiguing and the rain forced me to run so I didn't have to drop due to hypothermia. So I alternated between running and powerwalking. It also helped with the nausea and pain because my body focused only on the cold. I'm very glad to have done that but I really have no desire to do that again. It was so tough and I'm not sure I could run a better race. My A goal was finishing, but my B goal was definitely sub 24. There were over a 100 people that DNF, so I'm lucky that I finished.
OMG, mrshandy!!! You are AMAZING!!!! I cannot even fathom running 100 miles and those conditions sounds atrocious. What was your longest training run? Did you nap/take breaks?

My longest training run was 12 hours which equated to about 54.4 miles for me. No naps or breaks I really wanted to keep moving. I tried to get through the aid stations pretty quickly. My longest mile was when I had to wait a few minutes for a free bathroom.
I ran the Chicago marathon this weekend. I love this marathon ❤️ I finished in 4:34 which is 9 minutes slower than last year, but I’ll take it! I was on pace for sub 4:30 (which was my tentative goal) until mile 22 when some GI issues forced me to slow down and I lost time circling back to a restroom.
Congrats, brooke77!! That's fantastic! Sorry about the GI issues, I worry about that for MCM. I've had a lot more of that this training cycle than in previous ones.
