Follow up on the "who's going to win poll. How are *you* going to make that Harris win happen or stop Trump from taking power again? Let's get everyone pumped up.
I was going to follow up my poll with a pep talk but underwaterrhymes did it better than I would. (UWR: I hope you don't mind if I quote you here, I can delete if you want.)
"Also, if you think your vote doesn’t matter, vote for her anyway. If you don’t love everything about Harris, vote for her anyway. We MUST win this election and we MUST keep the Senate and hopefully flip the House.
Turning out is critical. In 2016, only 59% of the voting eligible public (nearly 231 million) turned out to vote. In 2020, it was 66.6% (nearly 8 million more people than in 2016).
In both years, millions more people voted for Clinton and Biden, but because the turnout was so much greater in 2020, we snagged the electoral college too. Your vote absolutely matters and even in states where we may not stand a chance at snagging the EC vote, those down ballot races and initiatives on the ballot are vital.
So many people didn’t believe us when we said they were coming for abortion. Well, look what happened. They dismantled it and women are dying because of it. The next President will be able to put more people on the Supreme Court, and if it’s Trump, you can say goodbye to ever knowing a liberal court in our lifetimes. Regardless of whether you believe they will take away our democracy, believe this: the GOP is coming for every other freedom we have gained - from marriage equality to healthcare."
I’m writing post cards through Vote Forward. Of the 500 I ordered, a friend is helping with 150, and I have only 50 more to write. Good thing, because I am having trouble with my right hand, and wonder if this has something to do with it. But I’m finishing them if I have to write with my teeth!
Oh, I donated too, twice to Harris, and once to Brown and Tester.

-$178 donated across multiple races -300 postcards going out at the end of the month -2 postcard parties hosted, 1 coming up next weekend -45 letters to new voters in Ohio and PA going out this week -6 yard signs (my husband thinks I'm a weirdo, lol) -1 canvass shift last weekend -1 canvass shift coming up
I'm also considering signing up to do ballot curing calls next week for absentees, but I haven't decided on that yet.
I'm in Wisconsin so I'm not just focused on the presidential race--I'm also focused on keeping Tammy Baldwin in the Senate and passing a local school district funding levy.
- Donations both to the Harris campaign and to smaller down ballot races - Written postcards for Harris and down ballot races - I live in NJ, but I am signed up to be a poll observer on election day in PA. With PA being a swing state, I don't trust that fuckery won't happen at the polls, so I wanted to go where I thought I might have more impact.
I have also spent two class periods with both of my college classes this imploring them to vote, why it matters, and giving them information on not only registering to vote, but exactly where and how they can register and/or apply for mail in or absentee ballots.

I am writing post cards and phone banking. I also post on social media actively. H canvassed in Wisconsin. We have also donated to the campaign several times.

don't you have to be registered in the county where you're poll watching?
I've donated over $1,000 to the campaigns of Kamala Harris, Biden before her, Colin Alred, Beto's road warrioring to register the vote, and some swing state battles for seats.
With my current work schedule, I am somewhat limited, but am hoping the money helps.
I did Postcards to Swing States, but I don’t know that they have any left to distribute. My local Democrats group is still hosting regular postcard parties, so maybe check there?
I think most personality tests are bunk, but I took a Hogan assessment and scored very high on "skeptical" and "mischievous," which was plainly evidenced by my instinctual response to the subject of this post--F off, I don't have to prove anything to you.
I am apparently not a person who gets pumped up by challenges like this one. 😄
I am pestering my Canadian friends with American born parents to see if they are eligible to vote and then sending them all the information to sign up to vote abroad. I can't force them to register and actually vote, but I'm making it as easy as possible for them to do so.

It was meant as a space to brag, not coerce or guilt trip. lol.
Postcards to Voters still has addresses for down-ballot races in PA, OH, NY, and CA! You need to have your own blank postcards though. postcardstovoters.org/

Can you see if they're doing post cards for Josh Riley in NY?

Looks like currently NY is just Laura Gillen and James Skoufis.
I've donated, bought official merchandise, and still have 200 postcards to finish filling out by the 24th. My writing hand is tired but I have to do everything I possibly can right now.
I told my mom, an undecided Michigan voter (but not considering Republican vote) who asked for my thoughts on candidates, about my feelings and thoughts shared in the Kamala thread.
I told her that as much as I hate the current administration’s actions in Palestine and Kamala’s words about blindly supporting Israel, the thought of another Trump presidency is terrifying.
I told her that if I was voting in Michigan, I would be voting for who will do the most good for the most people, like I typically do. Even if that disgustingly means continuing to support the genocide happening in Palestine. Because we need Michigan to not go red.

To be inside, yes. But if you are not registered in that county, you can be stationed outside.
ETA: This is the language "Poll Observers must be physically present in PA for their shift. In order to be an inside poll observer, you must be a registered PA voter and you must have a certificate from your local County Board of Elections. Both PA voters and non-PA Voters can volunteer as outside poll observers (at least 10 ft. outside the polling place)."
I’m doing more work down ballot. While I don’t live in a swing state, I live in a purple area and there is a real risk of our school board going to the dark side.
Donated up & down the ballot Wrote letters for Vote Forward Wrote post cards to Dem voters in my County Made sure my family and friends have voting plans Voted early in Michigan!

I've had the same unique volunteer role since the Biden campaign in 2020 and spend at least 15-20+ hours/week on it during the 2 months prior to the election. It's draining and thankless work but I know it makes a difference. Also donated!

Social media discussions (of course.)
Wearing my Kamala Harris For The People t-shirt from her 2020 campaign, as well as Adios Trump (from J Castro's 2020 campaign) and my more recent VOTE (with books/BLM/Uterus/pride for the letters) and Roe Roe Roe Your Vote tees.
Donated to campaigns including Harris, some tight races (OH, AZ, TX) and the DSCC, DLCC, and DGA. Attended fundraisers for a couple candidates and donated there as well.
Volunteered at our county fair to work the Democratic Party booth. Wore and brought my tees for the amusement/talking factor and bought buttons to wear on my jacket, hat, shirt...buttons that have become conversation starters. These include "Dog People for Kamala" and "Make Politics Joyful" (for the cat people because it has an adorable, joyful cat) and "I'm Speaking" (which started a "What does the I'm Speaking button mean?" discussion within minutes of putting it on my hat.)
Standing on street corners waving signs for candidates. Yard signs in my yard (which is a corner lot on a through street right by the mailboxes) for Harris/Walz, our candidate for governor and No on Initiatives.
Talking to anyone and everyone who seems even remotely interested in politics about voting...and voting for Kamala/Walz and Democrats.
Writing postcards to swing states (and Florida, lol.)
Knocking on doors for the Democratic Coordinating Campaign for the voters who have been likely Democratic voters but don't have a history of being strong voters. Getting the word out about the candidates, voting down the ballot, information on the initiatives and Proposition 1.
