I turn 50 in November and want to get my shingles vaccine soon after. I have a colonoscopy and endoscopy scheduled for mid-November, so I think I’m going to wait until early December. (Getting old is NEAT!)
What were your symptoms after your shingles vacc and how long did they last?
After the first shot, I felt fine. The 2nd shot- I was achey and really tired the next day. And we had gone away on a weekend trip. I didn't think anything of it because I was fine the first time. Cursed myself for that decision.
So- I would definitely make sure you have nothing important scheduled the day after you get the shot.

Most folks don't have a ton of side effects from the first vaccine (though some do and don't follow through with the 2nd dose). It's the second dose that wreaks havoc on a lot of people. Feeling run down, fever, rash on the arm you got the shot, etc.
None of this should stop you from getting it, though, but it sounds like you're intending to get it regardless.

I hit the same milestone next week and while I have no first hand experience yet, I’ve heard it’s a real doozy. I haven’t decided when to get it, but I’ve been warned by friends not to plan much for a day or so afterwards. I’ve had zero reactions to the flu and COVID vaccines so I’m hoping for more of the same! Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst. lol.

1st one was fine, mild soreness for one day (maybe two). Second shot was very tender for almost a week. No other physical symptoms but my arm was tender to the point where ut was difficult to use.
I got shingles, Covid and Flu, all this past Friday. I had two sore arms but that’s it. It was my first dose of shingles.
When DH got his first shot of shingles, it completely knocked him out. He felt so bad that he is now putting off getting his second shot. He had previously had shingles, so not sure if that makes it worse.

I got shingles, covid, and flu shots this past Thursday. Shingles in one arm and the other two in the other. At first I just had a bit of soreness which lasted a couple of days. I did wake up a bit tired the next day and felt a bit off but nothing major.
First shot, no side effects. Second shot knocked me on my ass and I spent the day after in bed. I took it as a good sign--my immune system really ramped up.

First shot I was tired, second shot nothing; for both my usual lymphedema-induced pain but I have that for all vaccines. The pharmacist where I got mine told me the 2 doses are the same (but that many people do have more reaction to the second dose).
Also got a colonoscopy recently. Fingers crossed your nurse anesthetist isn’t a colleague’s wife like mine was! And that you have a super cool pal to be your driver like I did who put the idea in my head of singing on the way back to recovery so my anesthesia-logged brain remembered that and I belted out “Dancing Queen” on the stretcher ride down the hall.
