Sofa shopping

Anyone have Room & Board Andre or Crate & Barrel Avondale sofas? I am hating sofa shopping- it seems impossible to tell what's going to be durable, and my dog does dig at the cushions sometimes so I think I need a fabric that's cat-friendly, not just dog/kid-friendly.

I'm leaning toward the Andre in Sumner fabric, but uuugghhhh.

dr.girlfriend, search tells me you have the Andre (and that that's when I added it to my list of possibilities...). How's it holding up for you?

We don't have the Avondale but we do have a Crate & Barrel couch. We have the Axis sectional. We got the sueded microfiber and love it. The couch is almost 19 years old - the cushions are sagging more than they originally did and the edges of the arms are sort of shiny where the fabric has worn down. But overall it's still in very good condition. After 2 kids, 3 dogs, and a cat.

The story I always tell about the couch is when the kids were little and we were getting ready to head out of town. We were packing the car up and the kids were playing and being quiet. Too quiet. I found DS coloring in the back of the couch. In Sharpie. Came right out - I may have used fingernail polish remover - and there is no evidence it was ever there.

We also have a C&B Axis couch in sueded microfiber and it's great and looks great after many years. It has not, however, been our primary family couch in most of those years as it's not in our main TV area, and our dog doesn't go on it. But still, it's held up great and was an awesome purchase. We also had some kid-related stains and stuff and everything came right out amazingly.
