I hear you on car prices. My 2009 Rav4 is going strong and while part of me wants a newer car, I can't stomach the price. I also worry about all the electronics in new cars. My car has been very reliable and it seems like new cars break more often and are a lot more expensive to fix.
We replaced my 2009 this year and I regret it. The new car is bigger to hold more kids, but it breaks easier and has been so much more expensive than we anticipated. My 2009 no-frills sedan was cheap to drive for years and years and I don't see this 2021 lasting as long.

jinkies, I use Nutrafol and I’ve had great results. I’m deep into perimenopause so my hair was shedding more and the overall integrity wasn’t great. It really improved the look and feel of my hair, the shininess and overall health. You do have to play the long game though. While I did notice some improvement after a month or so, it really peaked after 9-10 months. Expensive as hell but totally worth it for me.
I am so mad at myself. I made a huge pot (doubled the recipe) of lasagna soup last night. It was delicious. H took DS to his therapy appointment right after we finished dinner, so I cleaned up myself. I left the soup in the pot to cool, since it was still super hot, before I was going to package it up for leftovers and freeze most for a future dinner.
I took a shower and made a cup of tea. I looked at the pot of soup, made a mental note to not forget to put it away before I went to bed. Planned to do it after I finished my tea. I got into the book I was reading and completely forgot about the soup. Went to bed without putting away the leftovers. Woke up this morning and it was the first thing I saw when I walked into the kitchen. I was so mad. Not only is it a waste of $ (though it was a relatively cheap meal) and food, but it was such a good soup. I was really looking forward to leftovers for lunch today.
Unsolicited advice - whenever I leave stuff out on the counter to cool, I turn on the light above the stove. I always see the food when I go to turn off the light before bed.
The problem was I made tea and went into the bedroom to read. I never even came back out to the kitchen before going to sleep. I should have told Alexa to remind me!
I hung on to my mom’s kindle and used it as a trade in and I ordered the new color kindle. I really wish it had buttons though! No buttons/page flip seems like such a downgrade from the Oasis but they’ve said they have no plans to ever produce a model with buttons again 😢
I have been so tempted to make the switch to Kobo (buttons!) but they only allow you to sync with one library system and that wouldn’t work for me.
I think my Oasis is on its last legs and I’m holding onto it until it’s completely dead, I love the buttons so much!

Thanks for this feedback! One of the main reasons I'd like a new car is to go bigger so we can carpool, but we really don't need it. My car has like 110K miles (I WFH since Covid) so it is in really good condition, so I need to resist temptation for a new car.
Although I love that my car has radio buttons! I hate that cars have gone all touch screen. Mine doesn't even have a screen! H's screen is starting to not respond to touch in certain places and it is so annoying.
Thank you dish2501! Did you get the prescription from your doctor or did you use one of the online companies (like Hers)? How long did it take to see results?
I see you have plans to go to your doctor, I would absolutely stick with that plan. A pcp can do the basic work up with an exam and blood work. Then, a dermatologist can follow up as well with different treatment options. There are a ton of treatment options depending on exactly the type of hair loss. I would absolutely stick with being seen in person for an actual exam (make sure they look at your scalp) vs an online option. I hope you get answers!

It really is the best kindle they have ever made. I know we aren’t the only people who love the buttons out there! It’s so much nicer to hold too.
I was hoping that since they discontinued the Oasis and it seemed pretty clear they were coming out with a $$ color screen version this year that they’d launch the color version as a super premium kindle with the styling of the Oasis and a new name. But no.

I miss my 2005 Corolla a lot. Radio buttons, knobs for the fan speed / where the air comes out of, a CD player...
I hate clothing sizes being so all over the place. I bought a tuckernuck dress 2nd hand and it's about double the size I need. I hope I can just resell for what I paid, but I'm bummed because I really like the pattern.
Bummer! I have a lot of stuff from there and I feel like their sizing always runs big on the Tuckernuck brand and Pomander place or whatever that one is called.
It's a Pomander Place dress and I think I could fit 1.5 of me in it. I don't even know if it would be worth seeing if my mom could take it in, but I'm going to steam it and try it on one more time.
I need a XXL in most Tnuck stuff because of my chest, but this is ridiculously big.
I have to put new tires on my car. Ugh, when did they start costing so much? That is not how I want to spend almost $1,000.
Relating hard to this one. My Jetta needs new tires, as well as new brake pads before the month ends so it will pass state inspection (due 10/31).
It also needs a $2k replacement infotainment screen, which I'm so salty about. The touch screen / radio / audio / Apple CarPlay / backup camera stopped working in May, and I've been in heavy debate for 5 months about what to do. Do the $2k replacement? Live with it? Just replace the car with something that better suits my needs on the whole?
I was all set to do the last option, and get a Toyota Rav4 Prime (plug in hybrid) but the aggregated pinch of our backyard project going over budget, the prices (omg) of cars generally these days, high interest rates, the beautiful $0 monthly payment I have on current car, its relative low mileage... and I couldn't do it. I just couldn't make it make sense.
I also can't stand not being able to navigate on the fly to all my kids' random sports venues/etc., so we're fixing the stupid thing. But we're going to end up putting $4k into a car that's probably worth <$10k. wtaf. On the bright side I'll still have a $0 payment on the other side, and be committed to keeping it for a good long while.
It bears repeating though. It BOGGLES how expensive cars are these days.
I don't look at it this way. Putting $4K into a car that will last you for a lot longer is always worth it. It will always be way cheaper than a $30K car. And you'll have to replace the brake pads on the $30K car at some point too.

Ha, the car I had before the Rav4 was a 2002 Corolla. I loved that car too! Bought it brand new for $16K and sold it for $4K when it was 13 years old. Crazy!

Thanks, I am definitely still keeping the appointment. I had tried to ask my gyn about it early this year; I think it's hormonal/ perimenopausal because I have other symptoms as well. But she was dismissive and just gave me a flyer about over the counter supplements through the Hers website.
My appointment next month is with my PCP, so I'm hoping that she will show more interest in seeing if it's hormonal, or thyroid related, or something else entirely. But I'm also prepared to go with over the counter treatments or online prescription route if my PCP won't listen either. I'm finding myself turning down invitations because I am so embarrassed about how I look.

I to a different nail salon than usual since I was in the area for an appointment. The owner kicked a customer out! The woman was being slightly difficult, but not out of control by any means. That was a first!
Just got DS his Covid vaccine, bribed him with a tripleberry Orange Julius afterwards (lest you think we're back in the 90s, Dairy Queen sells them). Gosh, I miss the original Orange Julius we had in our mall. I always got pineapple.
He's off tomorrow for an inservice and I'm a little jealous that he is feeling the Friday vibes and I'm not yet, lol.

I would def follow up with a dermatologist after the pcp. Nutrafol may be helpful but there are also a lot of other treatment options too. I don’t think a gyn would be well-versed in hair loss, but sorry they dismissed you. If you’re having other symptoms of peri-menopause definitely find someone who will listen to your specific symptoms and go over treatment options.
wanderingback , that's so cute! I love it when kids try to be helpful. I hope you find your glasses.
This reminded me of when DD1 was little, she used to randomly hide stuff. One time we could not find the remote control for the TV for days! It was driving us nuts. I finally asked DD1 if she had seen it and turns out she had hidden it inside the seat of a ride on toy. She was so proud of it too!
When my DD was about 2, I tore the house apart trying to find my keys. I finally said out loud "WHERE ARE MY KEYS???" and she goes "Mommy. In my froggy boots". Yup. That was where she put them.

Every time I drive to work, I see a stuffed Yoshi head on the shoulder of the road. I guess a stuffy lost his head? And every time I go. "NOOOOO YOSHI!" But it's 676 and I can't get a picture bc its the part of the highway where traffic finally opens up for me.
It was the yearly color run at my work today (elementary school). I am SO tired. Between the run itself (I walked with my highly anxious autistic DS(8) and ran back into the building for his noise canceling headphones due to the leaf blowers we use to blow color off the kids) and then running around keeping track of kinders and dealing with a bathroom accident.... exhausted. I came home and told H is was a takeout kind of night. Then I ate popcorn and watched an episode of Madam Secretary. My legs hurt.

Maybe it’s a very specific threat aimed at another commuter a la The Godfather

PDQ-
I am proud of my son tonight for standing up for himself, I had posted in the weekend randoms that his hockey game had gotten out of control. What I didn’t know at the time was that the ref had skated up to him DS and grabbed him by the front of jersey and started yelling at DS because he was mad that DS said I can’t believe you didn’t call that hit (the ref was looking right at it). He pulled the videos and asked me to be there when he talked to the coaches, but he did all the talking. He said he knows he shouldn’t have said anything and he did not swear or cuss or even say anything back when getting yelled at and this was an adult and he should not of grabbed him in anger/frustration like that. You can tell in the video he grabbed him in anger. And ironically this was before the game went sideways with a huge brawl. He knows this could get around, but he doesn’t want anyone else to have something like this happen to them.

Still driving an '06 Corolla over here. That thing is gonna last forever, lol. I would love a newer, more updated car, but its so reliable and no car payment, so I just can't...

sonrisa - I'm shocked her comment overheard by a fellow staff member wasn't immediate grounds for firing. I think that's where I'd spend my energy. Why wasn't it?

I drive a ‘04 Toyota Matrix. It doesn’t even have power windows lol but I love it. I’m getting historic tags for it in the spring when they renew
