Please don’t quote- I was interviewed for this article. Abortion funding is a shit show right now. Thankfully more and more people know about getting medication by mail in all states. I’m going to do an updated post about what’s going on from my perspective and how people can help if interested.
This was very good at showing what the real consequences have been. I always hear "and they have to travel out of state" but wasn't aware what that actually means or what the specific challenges are. I really hope women in the red states are showing up to the polls knowing this is their health at risk. Maybe the record breaking turnout in Georgia is hope that they are. I read through the comments section and many talked about how the Supreme Court is basically unchecked. Lots of comments about "why didn't the Democrats codify RvW" and just as many comments saying "they tried and couldn't get it through." Gah we are so bad at getting our own citizens to understand how our own government works (myself included). I feel zero hope that the Supreme Court will be fixed in my lifetime. I keep thinking about the country breaking apart so my federal taxes don't have to go to propping up these states where so many people's core beliefs (guns & abortion being the big ones) are completely opposite mine.
Not related to the content, the format made it hard to read. I get why they did this format. It's likely so younger people will make their way through the article since it's presented in a "Instagram Stories" style. For old people like me, I watch everything on mute + closed captioning when others are around me so they aren't nosy about what I'm doing on my laptop/phone. It took so long to read all the captions as it was hard to "fast forward" through the stories that I almost gave up. A few other fellow olds also complained in the comments that they should offer a text-only version for those of us who want to take in all the info much faster.
A bunch of Republicans in SCOTUS, Congress, and state government continue to believe that they should have more say over whether I live or die than my doctor and I.

I will never forget this.
For votes and coercive control. That's it. Not any actual deeply held belief, despite all protestations to the contrary.

Nothing turned me into my raging liberal self so much as listening to Christian radio in my early 20s. I only listened because that would keep me awake, yelling, in my 5am commutes in rural CO.
I went from being a quiet voter to a vocal volunteer in multiple states. I also taught groups from focus on the family.
They sent the gayest of us to do them (with our blessing. We loved taking the piss). Fair point, though, they were actually the best and most prepared students across the state. Wasted on such hatred.
