Need to buy a new baby present for someone who will likely be replacing most of their baby gear. Any recommendations? Does anyone have any opinions on baby headphones for travel? or the Hatch Gear Portable Sound Machine or Rest 2nd Generation Nightlight?

I would not get headphones as I think many babies/toddlers won’t keep them on their head.
I just looked at our target orders and we used the simple Yogasleep little portable sound machine. Inexpensive and functional. I even see a lot of people with it clipped on to strollers in my neighborhood.
Target gift cards were also so appreciated after having a newborn.
Anything Frida Baby, but it's hard to know what they've already got on hand. Same goes for any physical item, you don't know if they need/want it or not.
My biggest gift wins were Love to Dream sleep sacks and a VAVA adjustable egg light. And baby washcloths I'm still using 4+ years later.
We love our Hatch sound machines/nightlights but I haven’t used a portable one.
Do they have a registry? If not, whatever you get make sure you attach a gift receipt. Also can’t go wrong with a gift card and a small gift, like a board book.
For our second baby, lots of friends gave us diapers and that was great. We didn’t have to buy any for the first few months.

No, no registry. Thanks. Gift receipt absolutely. Maybe we'll just send diapers.

Gift card for food delivery is elite.
Thanks- I worded this badly, I don't think they have any baby gear currently as their youngest hasn't been a baby for several years.

Size 2 all the way! Some big babes never fit into size 1, and unless they're super tiny they grow out of them QUICK!

None of my kids wore a size 2 until they were 4-5 months old! Newborn for six full weeks and then size 1 for a few months after that.
Yeah my DD2 wore size 1 for like 6 months, if not longer! I’d stick with size 1 and include a gift receipt so they can exchange age easily if needed. I also always buy baby gifts from a local store like Target, not Amazon to make exchanges easier.
