Now that it's cooling down, I'm committing to a 30 min walk every morning. I usually listen to audio books but I also spend a lot of time in my car and I think I'd like to start to listen to interesting podcasts when I walk, just to mix it up. I like current events, health, beauty & fashion. True crime is always good. I'd like to deepen my knowledge of personal finance, investing? idk... there are so many out there! Please rec your favs!

So I did The Lazy Genius Today. I feel like it could have good potential for me, but it was a miss. Maybe my kids are older (teens.) The commercials annoyed me and I got nothing out of it. I listened to two that I randomly chose based on the titles. idk what I'm really looking for- I just want to get something out of a 30 min listen. I'm sure some episodes are better than others.
Is there a way to see which episodes are maybe highly rated/reviewed? Is that even a thing? I think I'd like to pick and choose and do different podcasts. Kinda like peloton rides/workouts- some are better than others and I want the good ones!
Planet Money sounds like a good fit, thanks jinkies!
You didn't mention kids, but I love the Ask Lisa podcast. They are short and to the point, and you can scroll through topics that pertain to you. The titles are very straightforward.

I keep trying podcasts, and I keep being disappointed in them. The only one that has stuck is Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me on NPR, and it's only once a week and an hour long. But if you like current events I'd bet you'd like it.
NPR Pop Culture Happy Hour (20-30 min daily on a new movie, show, music, etc) - typically lighthearted and fun.
Icymi - internet culture, 2x a week. I love Candace Lim and I feel like this podcast links me more to the youths š¤£
Decoder ringāinteresting storytelling about something in society. Last weeks ep was about how the right has co-opted āif you give a mouse a cookieā claiming it was always the intention of the book to share the āwarningsā of welfare. Great story told with warmth and some humor. The stories are so random, but thatās what I like about it. They have an āencoreā posted last week about the pizza wars between Chuck E Cheese and Show Biz pizza back in the day. Itās such an interesting listen š
Okay, this one is going to look longer, but it really isnāt.
My current fav is Normal Gossip. Itās one gossip story per episode that is told by the host to a guest host. The gossip is about regular ole people doing regular ole things. The episodes can be extremely funny.
The first 15-20 min is the hosts talking to each other so I skip right past that nonsense. Then the host begins the story and itās ~ 40 min of the episode with a commercial in the middle and one at the end so, truly, weāre landing on 30-35 min commitment.
In Defense of Children, Surpise! A Plant Story, and the Ladies of Bunco are classics.
sunshineandpinot, I used to listen to Lazy Genius years ago but skip it now because I don't think it's as good as it used to be. I feel like it's mostly a regurgitation of her books. And yea, there are a lot of ads. You could maybe scroll back to older episodes to see if you like any of those better.
