We can’t bring candy into the house until like a day or two before Halloween or we’ll slowly eat it to the point where we don’t have enough. We used to just wait and buy it the day of, but in recent years, the good stuff has been selling out early. It’s becoming a problem and we need to get our shit together. lol. Target needs to introduce a candy reservation service where you select and pay for your candy and pick it up on the day of your choosing.
Ok douche, go ahead and call it mud. My husband DID have halitosis. We addressed it after I talked to you girls on here and guess what? Years later, no problem. Mofongo, you're a cunt. Eat shit. ~anonnamus
No, I need to. I keep meaning to then it slips my mind. David's at a study date at a Starbucks in my main grocery store, so thanks to this thread, I'll have him pick some up before he leaves. I wonder how much he'll buy, lol.
I bought a small bag and hid it from H so he doesn’t eat it all before Halloween. We don’t generally get many trick or treaters (only 1 or 2) so we will probably end up eating it after.
I buy the individual candy bags for us, so kid gets hershey's, DH gets york patties, and I get reeses.
Then I buy the multipack big bags when someone has a sale and those stay in the shopping bag on the floor of the pantry until we need to hand candy out.
That seems to cut way down on eating everything before Halloween.

Ugh my DH bought 2 bags and I've had a number of pieces. I'm quite proud of us that there's anything left, but I've been trying to cut back on dessert and sweets as we're eating a lot of crap food lately.
We don't get more than maybe 15 TOT's in our neighborhood so we have to be really careful how much we buy as we'll be eating the left overs for a while.

I picked up a couple of boxes of full sized bars at Costco at the beginning of the month. As long as I leave the plastic wrap on the box no one will touch them but if for some reason I were to remove it, all bets would be off. Mostly my son and his friends would eat it.
I bought mine 3 weeks ago. I only opened one bag and that's because I needed a lollypop for Little Kid as a reward for getting a blood draw. That bag is now almost gone, once it's open it's fair game here. Today I bought a replacement bag... pickings are already slim at the grocery store. Little Kid's peanut allergy is a blessing in disguise because PB cups are my downfall when it comes to candy, and I won't buy them for Halloween because of her. Also the ADHD meds have been majorly helping on sweets cravings and binge eating, so that's also contributing to having untouched candy.

Yes - when target had it on sale a few weeks ago. But it has stayed in the box it shipped in. We are okay as long as the bag doesn’t get opened and then all bets are off. We also have trunk or treat this Friday.
Ha, I posted this in the other thread, but we have been burned other years trying to buy candy Halloween week. It's usually off the shelves by then and we've had to resort to non-candy things like tastycakes and chips. So we made an effort to buy early this year.
The downside is that I've already stolen a few twix from the mix.

Yes, we bought a ton specifically because we knew we would eat some in advance. I have a whole box of 120 full-size, a bag of sour patch kids, and some glow sticks to hand out.
(We ate the rest of what we bought for us to snack on lol.)

We gave out chips one year when we ran out of candy and they were a huge hit!
dexteroni, honestly I can only eat so much candy and I always liked getting chips too (I've always been more of a salty snack person than sweet). But the rest of my family thinks it's embarrassing to give out anything other than chocolate candy.
Target had a deal for their Circle Days or whatever that was BOGO50% off costumes and candy. I ordered my son's costume and the largest bag of candy I could find during that sale, and it remains sealed in our pantry so far.

I use Halloween as a chance to clean out the pantry of all the snacks the kids have desperately needed and then decided they didn’t like before making it to the end of the package (or that they loved for weeks until I bought the Costsco sized box) so will also set out things like goldfish, mini muffins, applesauce, etc. I am always amazed by how quickly those things go.
Yes, but we haven't picked it up yet (so we can't eat it yet). I just ordered it this morning after seeing the other thread and having an oh fuck moment (there is still plenty at our target and it's on sale, too).
Last year we had one group, so I bought with that in mind.

I bought two Costco bags a few weeks ago. H and DS have definitely broken into it. I think we'll stop have enough? But I've been traveling for work the past 4 days so I'll have to wait and see how much is left when I get home.
I haven’t bought ours yet…but mostly because I haven’t gotten around to it. We switched to full size a couple of years ago, and surprisingly, I have found that to be the same cost as before. I don’t buy nearly the variety, have nearly as much leftover, and don’t eat as much of it myself. (I’d mindlessly eat a dozen fun size bars throughout a day, but I won’t do the same with a full size.)
I did buy a bunch of non-food stuff for our Trunk or Treat this year. But my son has already taken some slap bracelets.

Yes, but I'll prob. buy 2 more packs (full size candy bars) on my next grocery trips before Halloween. I don't have a Costco membership, so I just buy 1 or 2 packs each grocery trip so that my weekly budget doesn't get blown. No one has eaten what I've bought for Halloween yet...I put it on a high shelf no one even looks at and they KNOW is off limits. I do buy a bag of reese's pumpkins pretty much every week during the season, and those are usually gone in 2 days.
Yes. I have waited in past years and haven’t been able to find candy. This year I bought it at the beginning of the month as soon as Target put it out. I just grabbed more today and Target was nearly out of stock, so I’m glad I got it when I did.
I always buy individually wrapped candy to distribute on a Target trip sometime in early October, and hide it until Halloween so my kids don't try to eat it all.
Separately, on many shopping trips this time of year, I buy some candy corn and Halloween peeps for myself - but I don't consider that to be in the same category as the candy I buy to distribute
We are regifting Halloween candy we got at the Disneyland oogie boogie bash earlier this month. I asked my H to hide it from me because I was eating it all day long and worried we wouldn’t have any left for the few trick or treaters we get. I normally try to buy stuff I don’t like so I’m not tempted to eat it, lol.

I am the only one in my family who knows I have already bought Halloween candy. The Almond Joys were never really for the treat or treaters. 🙃. Nothing else has been touched.
