DH bought some early, early because he was trying to get to a dollar amount to use a coupon at Kroger. That bag is gone. I ate it while I was hanging around the house recovering from pneumonia. No regrets! I also treated myself to a second bag of autumn mix. I usually limit myself to one.
We bought more candy for school trunk or treat. Leftovers from that will go to the 3 trick or treaters we get on our dead end street
I have had it since early October and it's still in the shopping bag in the basement so we don't eat it. But the last few days it has been a battle to not go sneak some for myself. I probably ought to buy stuff that I don't especially like...
(We are on a bit of a health kick here, previous years we have had some before Halloween.)

We live on a steep hill, no streetlights and no sidewalks. So no trick or treaters. We go across town to the grandparents and trick or treat from their house instead.
I bought a bag of pumpkin Reece's cups but probably won't give out candy on Halloween. I'll take a few out for myself and then take it to the bike race the next week.
I bought a small bag a few weeks ago because I didn't have anything on hand last year (luckily no T-oTers). I started eating it and bought another bag. Since I know we won't get any kids, I can hold off opening it until Nov 1.
I bought a bunch and all of our favorites are already gone, lol. I went digging through the bowl yesterday and there were NO mini-Snickers or Nerd clusters left, dammit.
We will have more than enough to hand out because we are lucky to get a dozen ToTers. So I can still send a bunch home with the friends of my teenagers who are coming over to hang out that night.
DH really enjoys picking it out, and often does so a day or two before Halloween. He then has to pick from what's left, and wander over to the regular candy section where he sometimes must over-pay for the same product. LOL.
We get practically zero ToT'ers at our new house.
There is a party we attend annually at a friend's house. They have a long driveway and the kids ToT from baskets the parents hold lining the driveway. This year we're not giving out candy at that event. We're giving out compass keychains. It's a great item for our group because most of us attend some sort of nature class during the school week. I usually don't like disposable junk the older DS gets, and regret some of our gifted party favors over the years. But the older he gets, the more I hate excess sugar, too. LOL. This event equates to a full extra ToT session a few days before Halloween.
If we don't buy Halloween candy early-ish around here, we're left with those small bags that are 2/$10 (the best deal is those large bags that are $25-$30). There's been a few years that I've bought too late and paid way more than I should. BUT, I also can't buy too soon because then it will be opened and slowly trickle away. A week before is our sweet spot!
