Any governerds in here that have attended her book tour? There is a free event here in KC tomorrow hosted by the library that I got 2 tickets to. It sounds like if you buy a copy of one of her signed books you get a picture with her too, lol. Not sure I'll want to wait in that line.
Topic is: How Facts Help Us Feel Less Afraid: Lessons from The Small and Mighty
Seats are not assigned so trying to figure out how early to get there. And who will be my plus 1.

I follow her online & am in the book club....it's getting rave reviews (at least according ot her own IG account...lol) But sounds great, just not my cup of tea. i'm really glad to see she's using her platform & credibility to be a little more outspoken on issues (which are generally more liberal)

This has been really interesting to watch! As she has gained trust of people, she has started to be a little more opinionated on things. It gets people *quite* upset, especially in her main account. She’s a former public school teacher…of COURSE she’s for public schools! Spicy Sharon is my favorite, and I hope we get more of that in the next two weeks and beyond.
My hypothesis is that she grew up very conservative & has changed politically and spiritually over the last 8-9 years, like many people have!

Yeah, if you really see her nuances, esp at the beginning of her popularity, she definitely tried to protect more conservative thoughts on the face of being "equal" to both sides.
Which again, you can have some conservative ideas, but know not to back the crazies.
I went to see her a few weeks ago. I bought a signed book, but just picked it up at the designated table. I think the "VIP experience" includes the picture. The line for merchandise was really long.
The show was surprisingly high energy and she was incredibly endearing and personable. She answered texted questions from the audience and had a presentation that coincided with her book.
It was a fun night and the presentation was great, but it wasn't dramatically different than what you see from her instagram feed. She did say it was eye opening for her to see her followers and soak in the response--from her perspective she speaks into a void and doesn't see her followers absorb her content.
Ok it was great! Very library focused because it was hosted by the library. She spoke about 2 people from her book plus Ben Franklin and Lincoln, both big library supporters.
She was definitely spicy which I loved. She cried once. I didn't stay to get a pic taken because there were hundreds of people in line.

I’m in her book club, but I was on a work trip when her tour was in my area. My speculation is she voted Republican through GWB (she seems to be very fond of the Bushes) and then Democrat after that.
pugz, I left with the same feeling after hearing her last night.
I haven’t finished reading her book yet, but am going to this week. So inspiring to hear the stories of those who just kept doing the next needed thing, despite what their circumstances were. I need to keep that in mind every day right now. Just keep doing the next needed thing.
