if it helps, the medium matilda says Kamala will win, Trump will try to overthrow the election but won't be successful. I follow her on social media for self-care purposes at this point.
No - I was following her before I deleted my TikTok account but she also predicted that something would happen to Trump in September to remove him as the candidate and that something major would happen to Harris on/around October 17 (she speculated she would assume the presidency).
My baby was about 3 months old on Election Day 2016 and was eating frequently at that point at night, so I remember waking up to feed him and seeing the results and crying in bed in the dark. I also had PPD so that was just a very dark day.
Anyway, all that to say, I don't want a repeat of that feeling!
I just realized I was at a conference in 2016 also! I spent all day at the conference, stayed up alone in my hotel room and went to bed feeling good. And then woke up the next day to the devastating news. The conference was like a zombie land (attendees skew very liberal at this event) with people just upset and silent the whole day.
Now I'm really curious to see what the conference vibe is like for this time around. I'm assuming it's a more conservative crowd given my current industry. Last time around was one of the most bizarre experiences.
I would like you all to know that my uncle jon says it's all gonna be ok. I was commiserating about election anxiety with my mom and she told me uncle jon says it's gonna be fine, therefore, it shall be. Because he's never optimistic, and he does actually know people (journalist). therefore if he says it'll be ok, then it MUST be true.
I love her logic. Highly strung younger brother with political connections makes more sense than a medium I guess. Or an octopus.
I’m nervous still. There’s a lot of talk about turnout. GOP is turning out more early votes than Dems. Historically, it’s been the other way around. I know we aren’t in normal times, but I can’t help the doom from creeping into my brain.

The majority of highly motivated republicans are voting against Trump. The rest are reluctant- at least that’s what I’m telling myself .

I am in this weird space between thinking she will get at least 355 EC votes (if not more) and feeling that this will be a huge landslide and then spiraling over how the GOP will try to steal this and how the Proud Boy terrorists will respond.

I hear you. I need to stop looking at FL data. I know we are not flipping and Dems are not showing up as I had hoped.

Yea. I have no idea why there’s this “Florida is in play” thing happening. I don’t see it. I worry they spent a lot of time and money for us to stay red.
Good luck tomorrow everyone! This Hour Has 22 Minutes (Canada's fake new show) ran a segment calling on our American PRs and dual citizens to vote. Cameo by Michael Moore, not the most impressive celeb but remember this is public broadcasting...

While I don’t see Florida flipping they have access to data we don’t, I’m sure if they spent time and money there they had a reason behind it. It may not work out for them but they wouldn’t have just blindly started putting money in Florida without cause.

Our local polling location which serves the entire town has said that they are removing all the outside barrels tonight, doors lock to the building at 6:30 (normally lock at 9) and they will be doing a sweep in the morning with the dogs. I hate that this country has become like this.
Add me to the 2016 baby people. Today is my son's 8th birthday. In 2016, Election Day was the day we came home from the hospital. I saw the election results declared while I was up feeding him. I just remember feeling completely numb/overwhelmed.
Since we're reminiscing, I had a final job interview the day after the election in 2016 which was just lunch with the 4 employees of the very small office. I was so.nervous they'd all be celebrating because...Texas. It was very quiet for the first little bit and then someone made some comment I can't even remember right now that made it clear they were all very disappointed and I felt my whole body relax lol
I like voting in person and bringing the kids with me. I've scheduled dentist appointments for both in the morning and we'll go after those finish.

We have a virtual learning day tomorrow because many of the district's schools are polling locations so DD and I are going to have a little voting day event. Go vote, go get lunch, etc.
I had a preemptive cry just now. IDK. My 72-year-old Italian Catholic but quietly pro-choice mom says that old ladies are going to save us. We have abortion on the ballot in our state, and she says they are NOT going back. She says it was the same in the 70s when the church said don't get birth control, and every woman she knew privately went and...got the pill. I really want to trust her on this but I keep flashing back to 2016 and it's hard to hope.
I think I feel good except for those pesky early voting turnouts. I really hope registered Ds show up tomorrow, just to make me feel a little better.
I just keep reminding myself that I personally know more than a few registered Republicans who have voted early...for Kamala.
I keep thinking of the term I heard someone say, "Nauseously Optimistic" and that absolutely describes me right now. I just keep remembering that night in 2016.
We can't go back. We won't go back. If the worst happens, we just need to keep up with this energy and be ready to be the change that we want to see. But right now, I'm really hoping that doesn't need to happen!
Pete Buttigieg was on the "We Can Do Hard Things" podcast today. I'm listening now, and always appreciate his voice.

This is a lovely image and I hope it’s correct. And I hope all of these little old ladies live in PA, MI, and WI.
magma , She's in Missouri, where our presidential vote might as well just be tossed into a caldera (I watched a lot of Spooky Lakes Month on social media - which is a nice distraction if you need one) but I have family in York, PA voting blue!
ETA: But if we're feeling like trusting mom, she thinks Missouri will be more purple this time and maybe she's right? I have several friends who work in the area of reproductive rights and one canvassed in Columbia, Mo (which is yes, our largest college town) this weekend and she said the only people who opened doors were old ladies and they were almost without exception voting yes on 3.
Jumping on quick to let you all know that I’m at the Philly Kamala rally and I have absolutely no chance of getting in. The line for security goes all the way from the art museum almost to Love Park and wraps around multiple times back and forth- so many times that we couldn’t even find the end. We’re standing by a fence and hoping to hear her. It feels like the entire city is here and the vibe is GREAT.

Heather Cox Richardson’s Saturday post gave some very encouraging stats on this: “Independent women back Harris by a 28-point margin, while senior women support her by a margin of more than 2 to 1, 63% to 28%… Seniors as a group including men as well as women are also strongly in Harris’s camp, by 55% to 36%.”

I just revived the abortion thread & talked about polling and this still being a big driver. I'm glad to see the "little old ladies" remember the before times and are saying "WE'RE NOT GOING BACK!"
Also, lol-sob that the 18-26 year olds don't remember the Access Hollywood tape & it's trending again as it's being shared among those who didn't experience it in 2016.
