spindle92 I hope you feel better soon. Rest, hydrate, can you send some cookies or CashApp?
Omg! I meant to say can I send you* 💕
Lol - I was going to quote you and say, hey, she feels like ass - maybe someone should be sending HER cookies…? But then I figured it must have been a typo.
My sister got an 8 week old shih tzu puppy yesterday! Apparently someone she knows got it first, but their baby had an allergy to it so they had to rehome right away. It's so cute! I met it on video, since she lives in TX. I am really glad it is not MY puppy, but I wish I could snuggle it! It's super tiny, like the size of a hand.
This weekend is going to be very low key, which I am excited about. We are going to vote, and I signed up to call people to "cure" their ballots, which I guess means calling to straighten out problems that would cause their ballots to be rejected. This sounds like something I won't mind doing, so hopefully it goes well and I can do more of it. I can't believe the election is so soon. I am working as an election judge, so I also need to start thinking about what I'm going to prepare food-wise since I have to be there for 15 hours and can't leave!
My location doesn't have a microwave, so I take my insulated lunch bag with cold packs, and I take lunchables, baby carrots, cheese sticks, granola bars, and fruit rollups. I always say I live my best 2nd grader life on election days! But also, I take these specific things so I can eat on the job if I need to.

Thanks, that's helpful! I don't know what my location will have - it's an elementary school so presumably everything exists there, but IDK what we'll have access to. I am thinking a cooler with cold packs and food that doesn't need to be heated is probably my best bet, too.
I was also thinking about baking something and bringing it to share, but I don't know any of the people I'll be working with so it's possible they will not want to eat it, lol.
It's chilly and dreary today and I'm sleepy and that is NOT helping!
When I started wellbutrin I realized that some things taste different and I don't like them anymore. I discovered today that chia tea latte is now too sweet for me - I haven't had one since starting the med. Womp, womp. But I guess I won't waste money on them anymore.
I think H and I are going to have a breakfast date tomorrow morning and I'm hoping he'll be open to a particular place because I've really been wanting their pancakes. He doesn't usually care where we go so I'm hoping that holds true tomorrow.

Try adding a shot of espresso to the chai - it adds bitterness that might bring the flavor profile more in line with what you'd like currently.
Speaking of chai, I recently ordered a sampler of different chai tea bags from Vadham - I think someone here had suggested that brand a while back. There are instructions in a pamphlet which are completely different than the instructions on the individual bags. I've tried two flavors so far and I'm underwhelmed, but I think the preparation is part of the issue. I've got plenty more bags to keep experimenting with.

TW - drug abuse and death
I found out this morning that my godbrother passed away earlier this week. He had been struggling with addiction for so many years. I am so sad for him, and for his family. 💔 He’d done rehab so many times, and when sober, he was such a wonderful person. May he be at peace now, free from the demons that haunted him.
bex1973 I started Wellburtin a few months ago. Did you gain any weight? I have 5 pounds that seemingly got packed on out of nowhere.
I've actually lost weight because I don't really feel hungry and sweet stuff which was my downfall just doesn't taste good anymore. Also I have loads more energy so I've been walking and getting around 10k steps daily. But I have definitely heard that a lot of folks gain weight on it.

I don't like coffee - will it give it a coffee taste?

Not significantly... I'm not a coffee drinker either. I drink chai frequently, but only add espresso if I'm absolutely exhausted. It adds bitterness and complexity, but I think it plays off the chai flavors nicely. Chai varies so much based on who makes it, though, so YMMV. I primarily get my chai from a local cafe.
Happy Friday! I think we're picking DS up from aftercare and going straight to our favorite pub. I don't really prefer to eat as early as 5pm but this place is small and gets crowded so we'll deal with it. I can't wait for a cold beer.
My mom has requested to babysit DS tomorrow night because my dad's having shoulder surgery in November and she'll probably be consumed with helping him for awhile. Free babysitting, yes please. We will drop him off with her around 5pm, probably do a few errands since we'll be in a bigger city, and go out for a drink/dinner. On our way back, we'll probably go to our friend's basement bar to watch football.
We'll pick DS up Sunday at my parents and my dad is grilling us lunch. He wanted to see us before his surgery so it'll be a good opportunity to hang out.
Anyone from San Fran? I'll be staying in Union Square next week and people are saying I can't walk around near my hotel. Is this true? I love going for walks when I travel for work.
You will be fine, just be aware of your surroundings and don’t walk alone late at night. I took my kids and felt totally safe.
Guys. DS had his first quarter award ceremony this morning and he got high honors!!! I've shared his story of a global developmental delay and lots of therapies over the years. This boy is absolutely incredible.
Congrats! That's amazing
I was able to hold in years until I got to the car!
Well as per normal for me I stressed about nothing on jury duty. After 6 days of calling in every day I’m free without ever having to actually go in. Thank goodness!!
Sometimes I randomly worry that Moo Deng will be killed when she's older simply because she's full of rage all the time. Bitey adult hippos will kill zookeepers.

the national fear mongering about SF annoys me. I walk around there, with children no less. Don’t bug the homeless people, pay attention to your surroundings, etc,
my kid is safer in Union Square, the Tenderloin or downtown Oakland than the half of the country that won’t even let them pee or walks around open carrying assault rifles

I’m here now. Yeah I think my coworkers exaggerated a bit. I walked around tonight. No issues. Was a little surprised to see 2 guys like legit just walk into Macys, pick a big stack of stuff up and walk out, but I didn’t feel any less safe than other cities. Planning to explore later this week when I have some free time!

I agree. We went last summer and walked everywhere. I fell in love with the city!

Update: walked 17,000 steps around San Fran today. Loved it. Would come again!
