Sorry that the other question of the week was the only one for a few weeks.
This is a little boring, but maybe interesting if anyone's met some famous authors.
Which authors have you met? Which authors would you die to meet (dead or alive)? I suppose depending on your beliefs you might literally have to die to meet famous dead authors.
Bonus points: What would you ask the author you're dying to meet?

I think Paul Zindel came to my school in 6th grade.
In high school my writing group hosted Taylor Mali for a reading. I actually had a workshop with him, so I'd say I really met him (as opposed to 6th grade where I was in a cafeteria full of people). Not gonna lie, Mali was kind of diva-ish. It was still a really good experience.
I haven't met any authors, but I'd love to meet Stephen King. I just think I'd be all starstruck though, and not be able to ask him anything. At least nothing that hasn't already been asked a zillion times!
Not really proud of this one but I went to a small book signing with a Twilight obsessed friend to meet Stephanie Meyer. Haha she was actually really nice and holy shit the fastest book signer I've ever seen. Living near the Mall of America I've seen a lot of random authors that stop there on a book tour but usually from a second floor balcony cause I hate wasting my day standing in line.
I guess I've been to a few talks by well-known authors (for example, Jared Diamond) but haven't really "met" them.
I would love to meet JK Rowling. I know it's cliche and all but I just have a lot of respect for her from what I've read and am curious if she is really like her public persona.
The only author I've ever met was Sigmund Brouwer. He did a kids' creative writing workshop for a regional homeschooling group when I was like 11.
The only author who comes to mind as a "would die to meet" is Mark Twain. I wouldn't really ask him anything. I'd just want to hang out with him and his family for a couple of days.

I've met Jennifer Egan, Jeffrey Eugenides, Junot Diaz (he gave me a hug and a kiss!), Sarah Vowell, Ben Percy, David O. Stewart, Dagoberto Gilb (he was so awesome), Colson Whitehead and Jonathan Franzen. We were able to exchange more than a few words with all of them, which was pretty cool. Ah, ETA Stewart O'Nan. He came up to our booth at a book festival and chatted with us for a bit.
I would love, love, LOVE to meet Luis Alberto Urrea. My husband met him last year and loves to lord it over me.
My mom and I met Sue Grafton at the downtown Oklahoma City library a few years ago when she was there giving a talk. She was very down to earth and personable.
Oh, hey. I'm glad this resurfaced. I'm really excited to go to an Erin Morgenstern signing next month. I loved The Night Circus. Zadie Smith is in town next week. I'm going to see if my SIL wants to go to that lecture with me. I haven't read any of Smith's work, although she's been on my TBR list forever.
I met Lois Lowry at a NYS English teacher conference in Albany. I also know David Schickler who lives down the street from me. He's written many novels and is currently filming a series he wrote for Cinemax out next year. He's not famous yet, but have a feeling he might be.....
