I’m at the airport waiting for my ride home after a girls’ trip to Phoenix. It was fun, but we maybe weren’t the best matched traveling companions. I’m glad to return to normal eating!
I feel like 5-10 mins late is still 'on time' for now .. hell her going at.all right now is a win.
Definitely! Also, nobody warned me so I’ll warn you. You may be in a honeymoon period and then have some regression. They were prepared there to work with that but didn’t tell me. We’ve had a few regressions since going back in March, but each time it was shorter and more easily addressed. I was panicked, though. We had a blip a few weeks ago, but haven’t missed a day in over two weeks since, thanks to two truly amazing social workers.
Thank you for the warning! We have a check in at 30-45 days to see where she's at and if this is working. I think once she gets the routine down, we'll be in a much better space. Next year (fingers crossed) we'll be at the school w 100 kids (8-10/room) where she'll have a slightly more 'normal' HS experience. This school is next door to her existing one.
Follow up from yesterday, it looks like they are filling the injectables already and based on playing around it's going to be $85/month for 2 doses which we can afford.
Also, my bloodwork the other week was over $1k, but my payment is $17.
So here's hoping things continue to progress smoothly.

How do you help a teen who is putting a ton of pressure on himself?
PDQ: DS is a goalie and this year he will most likely be the starter as a sophomore for varsity. We lost 10 players and the starting goalie last year so we are going to be a smaller and younger team and it has the potential to be a rough season. He is putting a ton of pressure on himself about this year. Being a goalie is physical, but also part mental. Just this Saturday his club team lost by one and he blamed himself. I need him to get out of his head and realize that he isn't going to be able to stop every goal I know the returning players are excited for him to be the starter, but I also know when a team is losing they can turn on each other and particularly the goalie very quickly. There is a goalie mindset coach that is doing a webinar on confidence over thanksgiving and I am thinking of signing him up for it.

Congrats on the job bbdoll! Congrats on the baby jane6672!
Back from Med Express...diagnosed with bronchitis with an rx for a steroid and cough suppressant, just like I expected. Glad I didn't go to the ER for that...

You’re very welcome! Hoping that she thrives in this new setting!

I went to early vote, which is held at my local courthouse. When I got there, there was a sign on the door that said no phones or smart watches allowed, this was not posted anywhere online. I talked to the security guard and asked for an accommodation because I use phone and watch to monitor my blood sugar as a type 2 diabetic. I offered to put the phone in airplane mode. They asked to see my dexcom, but then denied my request and told me there is nothing they can do. Technically I'm not worried about monitoring my blood sugar for the 20 minutes I was in line, but I'm sort of concerned about this rule and definitely that there was no prior notice. I'll have to go back to the courthouse in a couple of months to get a new passport, that's where our office is, and that will take a good hour, I'll need to be able to monitor my blood sugar then. Is a smart phone really a safety issue in a courthouse? Should there be exception for accommodations?
wanderlustmom , congrats on the wins! I picked up tennis during Covid, too and am also obsessed. Tennis obsession check: did you complete a USTA training video to see your new rating 4 days early?
Glad to find someone else as nuts as me. I thought about it but didn't do it--maybe I will now if it's not too late. Did you?
Of course I did! lololol I did the shortest one (obvi) so it was only 15 min. On tennis record I'm just barely over the cutoff for moving up, so I'm curious if I actually will or I'll get another year at 3.5.

I’m in charge of running a golf tournament fundraiser and, for the very first time, we sold out! I am so proud of how hard the committee worked to make this happen. I also can’t wait for it to be over.

My drive to work in the morning is usually 50 minutes. Today, however, there was an accident that had me sitting in a standstill for 20 minutes and I had to pee so badly by the time I got through that I almost wet myself. I had to find a random gas station because I knew I wouldn’t make it to the office in time. I was having hot flashes and cold chills and I was almost crying and was yelling at red lights.
I seriously debated the merits of just pissing myself, driving home, and letting my colleague know I wasn’t coming in today. lol
Note to self: two cups of coffee before leaving for work is a bad idea.
I was a field hockey goalie and the best book I ever read was Thinking Bodies, Dancing Minds. It's a sort of sports psychology book that also applies to so much more. While it didn't mean that I was fine if people scored on me, I was able to let it go more quickly and focus on staying present in the moment. My coach also talked a LOT about teamwork and the fact of the matter is that a loss does not come down to what one person does, especially a goalie. On top of that, I worked hard on focusing on what I did well versus the one small thing I did 'wrong' AND with the wrongs, on using them as learning exercises. You'll never be a goalie who lets no goals in. It's impossible. What you can become is a goalie whose focus is on what they do right, doing the best that you can and encouraging your team to fight hard. Goalies aren't a team of 1 - they are part of a larger team.

underwaterrhymes, I feel your pain but mainly because with peri, I just don't know entirely when I'm going to have to wee or otherwise and if it hits while I'm on a dog walk far from my house, it's a race to get home. Glad you made it!

Thank you! I keep trying to remind him that he is not the one solely responsible if the team loses.

fluffycookie, let your son know that doing the work I did on myself around mindset helped me get to play D1 university and high level England hockey. Does it mean I never was hard on myself? No, but I was harder on my team cause if someone scored and we lost, it was all of us who failed!
@fluffycookie my kid plays hockey but is not a goalie. One of the coaches has said numerous times that he does not want to hear anyone say that it's a goalie's fault for losing a game... the puck had to get past 5 people before it got to the goalie.

"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”

This happens to me on the regular. It's so sucky.
I'm like this too, with even one coffee. A few times a year I have to drive a place that's 45 min away for work and I'm usually struggling by the time I get there.
