Ugh, I'm cleaning up many messes from the employee that was suspended, but now I'm also trying to unweave a web of mis-information with another group so we can get something out to Industry.
I thought I had explained everything, but I need to explain to the staffer working this to be a little bit more aggressive. I thought we were at the finish line and when I was in another meeting we took 2 steps back it seems...
Ds1 was selected as student of the month for displaying responsibility. He had kind of a hard adjustment to 6th grade so for his teachers to recognize that in him makes me so happy. He also made honor roll despite the tough adjustment and being absent 7 days bc of back to back viruses. Proud of him!
We are open during a 5 phase, year-long remodel. I need the Head of Facilities to understand that if we are open, we absolutely must provide seating during every phase. I am not talking comfy couches, I am talking two plastic chairs for senior citizens to sit on if they need to. We have this discussion everyday after I arrive to work and find the chairs I pulled out the day before gone.
Please tell me, what is it like to live in a non-swing state? Do you have normal TV commercials and normal mail?
I cannot overstate how toxic and upsetting these ads are. It’s stomach churning. There literally aren’t any other ads. It’s non-stop geyser of anxiety.
I’m in California so I don’t see a ton of ads but when I visit my parents in Nevada, OMG. The vileness of the republican ads. They don’t help the anxious feeling at all.

I live in CA.
9 yo was watching an educational youtube video in class yesterday and a Trump ad came on.
We are inundated with mailers and signs. Most of the mailers are for local races. My text messages are constantly blowing up.
I don't really watch regular tv, but our streaming seems to have lots of election commercials as well - but again, more local races.
Ok douche, go ahead and call it mud. My husband DID have halitosis. We addressed it after I talked to you girls on here and guess what? Years later, no problem. Mofongo, you're a cunt. Eat shit. ~anonnamus
My H's family is so weird to me. I come from a close family, talk to my mom daily, and I generally know what my sisters and parents are up to on any given week.
My H's family emails a couple of times a year and we talk to his parents on Christmas. That's it. They do live overseas in Europe but it's not like we don't have cell phones and internet these days. He has a strained relationship with his parents, but it's civil. He gets along well with his sister but they aren't close.
All that to say, we THINK his sister moved to Valencia, Spain this year but we're not totally sure. Apparently there is horrible flooding there right now. I just sent her an email to check in - my H kind of rolled his eyes when I asked about it and said he was sure she is fine, but I am kind of worried. However, she might still live in the UK anyway since nobody in his family tells anyone anything, lol.
Hopefully she is ok!
Not even knowing what country your (non estranged) sibling lives in is CRAZY to me! I hope she's OK!

I live in a non-swing state (MA) but we are close enough to NH that we get ads on TV. I mute the TV when commercials come on anyway. They are so awful, so negative, I think they are very stressful. We don't get many mailers.
However, it is pretty demoralizing to feel like your vote doesn't matter. I've done my part, but I still feel very anxious about the election. And it sucks that none of the candidates come here so I don't even have an option to attend a Harris rally, which I would really love to be a part of. I feel ignored. I wish we'd switch to the popular vote. It really sucks that the election is decided but so few states.
I am south of Boston and we get the NH governors commercials nightly when watching our local stations. It's so odd.

I was going to take the afternoon off today, but my plans changed. I usually go into the office on Wednesdays, but due originally planning to only work a half day, and only virtual meetings scheduled, I decided to WFH. I was happy with that decision when I received a text alert that my work building was evacuated for a gas leak this morning. It was nice to not have my morning interrupted by that. (Thankfully it is fixed and all clear now, and no employees needed medical care.)
It is now dark when I drive DD to school in the mornings. The moon was so cool this morning, and I wish I would have been able to get a picture. It was a very faint sliver, and was orangish-reddish in color.

Right? I mean we have been assuming she did move there - but never actually got confirmation. She was supposed to move "sometime this year". We also don't know if she's actually in the city or in a neighboring town. They had some vague plan about retiring and "living off the land". They are in their mid 40s and not wealthy - and have no farming experience - so the whole thing was confusing.

I live in MI (swing state), so here with you in solidarity.

Yes - I used to live in a swing state (Iowa) and I don't miss the ads and mailers at all. I kind of forgot about them until I was visiting my friend in Michigan last month and saw tons of ads on TV! We are getting a fair amount of senate ads (as rubytue mentioned) and I do see some for president, but they are not dominating the way that they do in swing states.
I actually saw a Trump ad the other day that made him look pretty cool, and I was like "oh - that's explains some of it". I mean obviously I don't personally think he is cool at all, but if that's what you're getting fed daily I can kind of see how some people might fall for it. It was the first one I'd seen that wasn't just an attack ad.
But I do miss feeling like my vote matters. Our primary race is so late, too, that I never even got to vote for the candidate I was excited about in 2020 (Warren) because she dropped out months before I got to vote. I guess I could have gone to the Kamala rally last night in DC, but that was the first opportunity to see her that I'm aware of that was anywhere near me all campaign season.
However I'm forever grateful to live in a blue state when it comes to the human rights that are protected here, and it's also a lot nicer when you live in a community and state where it feels like you have shared values with the people around you, your tax dollars are supporting things you also support, etc. I do not miss living in a place that feels the opposite of everything you stand for.
noodleoo I can totally understand feeling frustrated that your vote doesn’t matter. The Electoral College is so fundamentally flawed. It’s unfair and disenfranchises most of the country. I hate it, and I hate that states like mine yield so much power.
wildrice I saw a Trump commercial this weekend that was good - I think it was during football? It had upbeat music and was shot brightly and had lots of patriotism (the normal kind) and happiness and energy. I thought, wow, if I was completely uninformed and undecided I would vote for this guy. I worried it would sway people but I only saw it that one time and now we’re back to darkness and illegals and trans people and brown skin and murder and rape. Hopefully Harris makes a nice upbeat commercial with rally footage from last night.

My six year old asked me what illegal tax breaks while we were walking to the bus thanks to the non stop ads. My 7 year old asked if Trump would stop running after Tuesday. Man that was a depressing conversation to have.
tennisgal , I got Burger King w/my son yesterday - bought one meal and a single whopper. It's was $22+.
we picked up a single topping personal pan pizza from pizza hut and one small order of breadsticks (no cheese) and it was $24. WTF?!?!?!
DD and I went to Taco Bell yesterday and 4 tacos, 1 burrito, 1 soda and 1 frozen drink were $28. I kept wondering what I did wrong! The tacos were $4 each - supreme tacos with chicken. Getting chicken over beef adds $1!

It was probably the same ad! It was definitely more positive, polished, and made him look like a hero. It is scary how many people aren't really engaged in current events who might see something like that and make a choice without learning more. I've been seeing a lot of really discouraging "man on the street" interviews with Trump voters who seem to really have no idea why they are voting for him. Makes me want to just shake them.
I got a callback from my first mammogram. I’m stuck at work and have to pick up the orders and report after the doctor’s lunch hour. I’m trying not to spiral (the tech told me that callbacks are expected after the first one at this facility and I knew the callback rate is 16-50% depending on facility nationally after the first). I’m a naturally anxious person so this is going to be a rough bit of time. I’ve already done all the calculators online. Hopefully, I can get in soon.
Is anyone else getting really weird ads on Tapatalk? I keep getting gross anime ads that I would be super embarrassed if someone saw so I have been avoiding using the app.

The only way to order at Taco Bell is with a combo. The prices are crazy on individual items!

Unfortunately I wouldn't consider Ohio a swing state anymore but the ads, man. We don't even have anything other than streaming at our house and still get senate race ads. The ones for the Republican don't even tell me anything about him, they just tell me how terrible Sherrod Brown is. Don't get me wrong, there are a few anti Moreno ads too but at least there's some telling you about Sherrod Brown and what he's done, not just "hey the other guy sucks." What a platform. SMH. Anyway they're SO prevalent even my 6 year old is like "ugh not Moreno" "ugh not Sherrod Brown."

I know it's hard but the odds are honestly in your favor. I had a core biopsy and a cyst drained after my 1st mammogram. Hoping for reassuring news for you. <3
If anyone wants to send good vibes out to my ds1, he could use them today. Kid needs a win and the hits keep coming. He’s tired, I’m tired. Just one little thing going right will do a lot for him.
H: Did you see my email? Me: you sent another? H: the one about the window? Me: oh, the one I replied to at *literally checks sent folder* 2:08? H: So yes, you did. What did you think? Or, never mind. I guess I could read the response and find out.
This conversation happened at 4:30. I mean, the guy that calls 2 minutes after sending an email is one thing, but this is another.
statgirl, I've never NOT gotten a callback. So far, so good -- just dense tissue.
At this point now they schedule my mammogram and ultrasound back to back, and insurance approves it. I did the callback routine starting at 35 (I'm now 42).
DS had his first filling with freezing today. Ever since we got home, he’s been walking around the house trying to whistle and saying, “I can’t whistle. This is so weird, I literally can’t whistle.”

I picked up the report (calcifications and one lobulated mass) and go for a diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound on 11/20. Google tells me it can be nothing to everything so I am going to hope for the best (and that it is a benign fibrous mass).
