The WH photos are great..... Jill dressed up as a panda!n My dd is obsessed with pandas & we're going as a whole inflatable panda family tonight....the costume is hilarious.
My grade team dressed up as characters from Animal Farm (the 8th graders just finished reading it). It was so fun to have our former students instantly know who were were!
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
Susie - Orson Scott Card was one of my favorite authors. I read him very differently now than I did when I was young. OSC doesn't write what JKR writes, but I feel like it's a similar journey. I've left a lot of authors behind, but I understand why they caught my imagination.
I also thought Douglas Adams was hysterical when I was young (15-18) because it was a way for me to connect to my dad. Now that I'm me, I fucking hate every Tina the Tech Writer joke.
And I'm grateful to work with SMEs who recognize the value of what I do.
...speaking of... I also take serious issue with J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis.
Being human is messy. Being human means living in the grey and making choices.
And I think it is (or should be) universally okay to let kids have fun ❤️
ETA - OMG NOT DOUGLAS ADAMS.
ETAA - SCOTT ADAMS IS THE ASSHOLE. AND I TRUST THAT NONE OF YOU WILL LET ME LIVE THIS DOWN.
Yes. It did take me that long to figure out who I was talking about. Yes. All caps were absolutely necessary. And yes. I am going to bed now. lowkey fml
I mentioned on ML that when I stood my kids together this morning for a photo, I realized they had unintentionally coordinated their costumes. Since it’s so fitting for this board, here is Election 2024.
My kid dressed with her theater group as the whole crew from the Lorax. it was so cute.
I set up an Eras Tour theme outside my house (under the garage eve because of rain) and handed out candy friendship bracelets and Taylor Swift stickers. I didn't get a pic of myself but I wore an Eras tour tshirt, bright red lipstick, and had extreme cat eye liner sharp enough to kill a man. I had select Swift songs like Who's Afraid of Lil Ole Me and Haunted among others playing on a portable speaker.
The little girls dressed like Taylor freaked out. It was awesome. Many of the moms liked it more than the kids. And I made friends with our new neighbor who is a huge swifty and is a PA democrat transplant so that was a big win!
michelle is the Lorax having a resurgence? I saw a couple people on various socials dressed as the Lorax. Is there a new Movie coming out or something?

I asked my kid and she said she wasn't aware of anything. But one friend was set on going as the Onceler and another was willing to be the Lorax all in orange with a huge hilarious mustache, so everyone else joined in. It was so cute.
They went to a restaurant (like 10 of them) and one kid just stood up in his booth and stared at the Lorax the entire meal. He was mesmerized!
Maybe all the kids are concerned about climate change and so the Lorax is increasing in popularity? <3

Family dressed up as the 4 main characters from Beast Academy, our daughter's comic book math curriculum. Even most of our homeschool friends didn't know who we were, lol.
