((Alex)) Sending you a hopefully not creepy internet hug. I've read your posts over the years and you have been thru so much. I really hope you get some good news soon.
Oh, I had a good laugh last night. We don’t get trick or treaters, we normally just turn the lights off. H actually called yesterday and asked if we needed candy, I said I don’t think so based on our 7yrs here.
I was in the shower and the doorbell rang, he comes running in asking if I’m expecting anyone 🤣🤣, I said um, it’s probably ToT. Well he handed out Werther’s soft caramels and Hershey kisses that I had. We’re #old.
Ok douche, go ahead and call it mud. My husband DID have halitosis. We addressed it after I talked to you girls on here and guess what? Years later, no problem. Mofongo, you're a cunt. Eat shit. ~anonnamus
That sucks. I am sure it was that compounded with the discussion in the student loan thread last week (which I think ended up deleted?). I know I offended her in that thread and feel badly about that. I hope she takes a break and comes back - she is a lovely person and a valued member of this community.
The super long student loan thread was deleted? What happened dramatic in there?
Villainv - I also hope you are able to take a break and come back, you are definitely a valued member here. I have always enjoyed your input.
No, it was a newer one about ideas for paying for higher ed/student loans, but we started talking about the military (one of the suggestions in the OP). I used a word that was in hindsight unnecessarily inflammatory and I know she was upset about that. I can PM you if you really want to know more, but I don't want to rehash the whole thing here since the discussion mostly just seemed to upset people vs being productive.

Oh no, that’s fine, I thought it was the PSLF one and was wondering how that could possibly gone sideways. I think I missed the other one all together.

I have to run out at lunch and get crumbl cookies so that DS can do his HOCO proposal tonight. My butt is so sore from sitting on the front steps last night giving out candy. Every year at the end I think to myself I need to remember a cushion next year and then I don't.
For mysterious reasons, videos of some tiktokers (Costco guys and the Rizzler) on Jimmy Fallon have started showing up in my social media.
I googled to try to figure out who these people are.
I have never felt so old in my entire life. I have officially lost the plot and no amount of articles or videos will adequately explain these people to me.
We ended up watching A Nightmare on Elm Street last night which I had never seen before. I had no idea it was about literal nightmares lol Why was Johnny Depp lounging in bed with a tv on his lap??
Because he was trying to stay awake! Clearly didn’t work though lol

On the topic ToTing, I actually got a decent amount of kids last night. This year was only my second handing out candy because H always made us go to his sisters house on Halloween. Last year I had 60 full sized candy bars with a ton left, this year, I only had 4 left. Of course, I ate two and there were a few kids who took 2-3 bars which I did side-eye, but it was definitely a good turnout for our 'hood. I'm sure I missed a few kids as well because I had to run DS to friends house right at 6pm and that's when things usually get started around here.
I have one vacation day left and we get Election Day off. I originally was going to take Monday off and have a nice long weekend. I switched it to Wednesday in case I wanted to stay up and freak out watching results come in. I really wish I had two vacation days so I could take Monday and Wednesday.

When is HOCO for you DS? I thought most schools already had them.
lavenderblue how long did you keep your kittens coned or in the surgery shirt things post spay?
Our kittens have gotten out of everything we have tried to keep them in and I’m wondering when we can stop trying.
As long as I could, but it was definitely less than a week. My one kitten got out of 3 different surgery suits and I still haven't even found them. It's like she took them off and then hid them LOL I think the biggest thing is to just make sure that they aren't messing with their stitches.
They have glue on the outside and dissolvable stitches on the inside. They don’t seem to be messing with it today, but we are only 2 days out.
We had them sleep in the surgery shirt things + baby onesie on top to keep it on. Maddie got out of it once but kept it on all night. But she was so pathetic in it and wasn’t going to eat breakfast. So I took it off for that and haven’t suited them back up yet.
Im trying to decide if I should go get the elizabethan blow up collar things to see if those are more successful for them.

My vet said that some cats don't mess with them at all, and one of my cats didn't. The other cat (who Houdini'd out of her suits) did manage to pull our one of her internal stitches, but luckily that was about a week out so it wasn't a big deal. I would just keep an eye on them, and as long as they aren't messing with them you are probably fine. You can always get the collars later if they won't leave the incisions alone.

Not until November 22nd. He has been holding off doing it because apparently the Crumbl cookie flavors have been bad the last three weeks. I laughed when he told me that, but multiple people have agreed with him.
Ugh, I overdid everything last night. Our neighbor has a pig pickin every Halloween with tons of food & drinks, full bar, jello shots, etc. We didn't stay over there super late, but yeah I definitely wish today was a day off!
Kids are home, we were out late at a Halloween party and dragging butt today
TW - car accident
On our way home we had to turn around because the road was blocked off for an accident. A police officer came over to our car when we pulled up and I was going to ask him where he wanted me to go but he just said "Are you mom?" - which totally threw me off since I was in the car with my kids and I stupidly replied yes. I quickly realized he meant are you the mom of the driver....ugg some poor mother out there had the worst night of her life last night.
1) the house who made the kids read a (long) bible verse in order to play a game to win candy. 2) the kid who yelled “we don’t socialize with this house” and his mom who had obviously said this to him being embarrassed that he repeated it to us. The house has 3 yard signs: 1 for Harris, 1 for pro choice, and 1 that said Hate won’t make America great. Maybe if you are embarrassed for your kid to repeat it, don’t say it in the first place.

Got my Covid and flu shot yesterday. It was a really, really bad decision. I have been up all night with chills and then a fever and every bone in my body hurts. I was on the fence about the Covid booster since I react so strongly to it but I'm possibly in relapse and will be spending a lot of time at the hospital over the next few months. Blah.
The combo rocked my world this year. I had to call into work the next day because I was so exhausted. I won't do it on a weekday ever again.
We have several houses where Catholic families live. We're talking 5-10 kids per home. So I was expecting them to stop by, but only one family did. It was quiet on our street. Granted, it was cold and windy, but these kids usually came before sunset. I wonder what's up. I thought for sure we would get 50-60 kids, but we ended up with about 25.
Sunday DD and I are headed to the Indy Taylor Swift show! I can't believe it's happening! We got the tickets in August 2023! Tomorrow we plan to make bracelets but I'm not sure how many we should make. DD is dressing in the LOVER era, I'm gonna try to pull off a black dress inspired by Fortnight. lolz.

@@@ Only 1 TOT last night. He was super cute, sort of a cross between Ace Ventura and a Pirate (pants). I assume it was "this is what I'm wearing, let's go mom", lol. I gave him 2 handfuls of candy, but he kind of waited like I should have given him the whole bag. Looking back I kind of wish I did, but I'm sure the adults with him are happy I didn't.
I talked to a nurse (?) at my dad's Neuro today. She was super helpful, but I worry I offended her. I was trying to thank her for her patience and explaining everything really well, but I said "thanks for explaining that like a 5 year old", when I meant to say "explaining it to ME like I'M a 5 y.o". Hopefully she understood what I meant.
I'm so overwhelmed trying to get ready for vaca (we booked the Excellence, thank you for the recs!!!) I'm really trying to say it's all going to be here when we get back so I can get a mani/pedi tonight, but we'll see. Not happy about a super early wake up for the airport van, but I think I'm so overdue for a relaxing vaca it's worth it.

I did it yesterday afternoon because I am off Thursday to Sunday. So thankfully I don't have anywhere to be today but I'm sitting at 103.6 with meds. So that's fun.

A friend recommended me for a job. I had a phone interview yesterday afternoon and it went very well. My friend said they really liked me. But, it would be a little less pay and a higher level position. Less flexibility. Less time off. No merit or COL increases. Oh and it's only guaranteed for 4 years because the job is tied to the current mayor being in office. I really liked the boss and his vision for the position. Five or 10 years ago I probably would have jumped at this chance, but now I want more flexibility and time off, not less. I need to politely let them know I'm not interested in moving forward.
The most incredible Halloween costume stopped by our house last night.
Kid had on a backpack, and an open umbrella was sticking out the top so the umbrella was open over their head. Shiny streamers and twinkle lights hanging off the perimeter of the umbrella, so the kid was surrounded. Alien heads stuck on the top of the umbrella. A bluetooth speaker hanging off the backpack playing the theme from "X-Files." Kid was an alien abduction!

We had a big swing in temps over the last few days. I've seen the grass give off steam early in the AM when the sun hits it but today was a first. The trees were doing it and it was so beautiful.
