@@@@ DD, who had to miss her entire jr year last year due to dysautonomia, applied for college yesterday! Even though she's repeating jr year, she still intends to graduate this year. She wants to be a doctor and restart the dysautonomia clinic at our children's hospital.
Meanwhile, I'm practically breathing into a paper bag over having a college-bound kid.
No one comes by anyway, but just to be sure I could keep the little candy I bought, we turned off outside lights and inside lights except for one very dimmed light while we ate dinner. It was fun hiding.
My grocery store must have over baked! I got 15 mini cupcakes for $1.20. They had a few dozen packages.
I kickstarted my walking challenge over the summer with a trip to Europe at the end of August. I kept up with it since I came home and was doing so well. I knew I had availability to schedule a trip in early November so I booked a trip to Disney this week just so I would be forced to walk a lot. Good thing because I’ve been slacking on my steps for the last 2 weeks. The holiday overload just killed my schedule and mental power.
I am en route right now and can’t wait to walk everywhere!

DH and I love Nate Bargatze. We saw him when he came to Columbus a few months ago

Hubs was sitting on a golden horseshoe at the casino tonight (comparatively speaking since I didn't win a dime. He didn't get a hand-pay, which is his someday-goal, but did end up walking out $1200 richer than he came in, in a matter of 1-1.5 hours.) He was getting bonus after bonus on a particular game and ended up hitting an Ultra for $1K which made his night.
I'll be out knocking on doors this weekend to finish up my precinct and one other to make sure people got their ballots filled and returned. I'm sure I'll be quite the sight, between a broken foot/heel in a plastic boot and hopefully minimal swelling from yesterday (Friday) morning's oral surgery. I hope folks aren't home and I can just leave literature on the doors because talking is going to be fun.
It's not kids doing great in school and heading to pre-med, or travel to foreign climes, but it's something that amused me. Enjoy the image of me clomping down the street in a plastic boot and with a swollen jaw, handing out election lit in the pouring rain, because this is the PNW and that's how it goes out here.
ETA: Congratulations sent with the walking goals (I can't right now but I'm trying; I'm both impressed and jealous) and katfco there's a really helpful FB group for high income families with college-bound kids. I recently joined and there are a couple others from GBCN on there as well (I've invited a couple I know locally that are on this board, and a friend of mine not in this group but from back east recommended it to me.) Message me if you want me to send you the name of the group or an invite to join.
This is just fun and I’m unreasonably excited by it.
My fencing club is having a tournament next weekend. There is also a national tournament next weekend, so we are having a very hard time getting the refs and people needed to run the tournament. I reached out to a couple fending friends of mine from college still within the extended local area, and got enough to run the event. And then, we passed a message on to someone else from our college fencing days who is local but not involved, and he is going to stop by and say hi. So, an impromptu reunion of our college fencing club. lol
Also, it amazes me that even after 30 years out of the sport, I still have enough connections to do this.
Hit 10k walking in the first half of the day yay. Now to the second half of the day for more walking. Disney, for all its faults, does make the steps happen like magic.
