We’re planning a trip to Boston for St. Patrick’s Day 2025. I know it will be crazy, but it’s a lifelong dream of my husband’s to do this trip. His 40th birthday is a couple of weeks before. We’re inviting his siblings and their spouses, so it’ll likely be 4 couples (ages 40-50).
Most of us have been to Boston before but none of us are very familiar with it. We’ll be flying from CA and TX and will probably do Friday, March 14-Monday, March 17. We (the CA people) will likely extend by a day on either end just because of flights.
We’re going to do the parade and probably also see Dropkick Murphys. Any other recommendations? Also looking for hotel recs. I’m sure prices will be high everywhere so I’m probably looking for a midrange hotel, prioritizing convenience.

No real advice (though we had a great stay at the Marriott Long Wharf) but this sounds so fun! I love bucket list trips and you must have a really fun family to do this!
But really, hotels are stupid expensive in Boston pretty much year round, so I'd definitely get ahead of it and book now. I'd stick to the Downtown, Copley, or Seaport areas. Avoid the Hampton Inn & Suites Boston Crosstown Center at Mass Ave & Melnea Cass (or any hotels in that immediate vicinity). They're cheap for a reason (its Boston's methandone mile/skid row).
St Paddy's gets gross so maybe cut your night short or find a nicer spot near your hotel to finish the night out. Squeeze in a duck tour during the day if you can!
Bell in Hand and Mr. Dooley's are pretty classic Irish restaurant/bars
Hotels will always be pricey, the Omni Parker House is beautiful and has a great bar. The Intercontinental is by the seaport and is very nice.
Tons of great restaurants within walking distance ( steps away to about 1 mile if that's ok distance wise) like Fat Baby, Row 34, Bar Taco, Loco, JP licks ice cream, Shybird, Lincoln Tavern, Moonshine 152....
The weather for the parade can be gorgeous or total shit. Definitely been in shorts and tank top one year and have it snowing the next. Lots of drunk college aged kids will be all along Broadway. If you are under 30, you can probably pop in and out of random people's condos and parties along the route and go undetected
