My sister and I went with my mom to look through her safety deposit box. One of the things in it is this antique necklace from my grandmother. It's a traditional piece of jewelry called a kundan, and not something we would ever wear. I was thinking rather than having it sit in a box we should frame it for display, with a little note about whose it was. I was thinking maybe one of those shadowbox frames, but is there a good way to secure the necklace and matching earrings within the frame? Pins or something? Any ideas would be appreciated, I'm sure there's a good way to do this. It looks kind of like this:

Ha, I was driving past Michael's today so I picked up a shadowbox and just did it with little tiny pushpins I had kept from dress shirts my husband had bought. :-)
What a fun idea! A darker, textured fabric might make it pop more but I think it looks great as-is.
Yeah, I had originally imagined it against black velvet-ish but when I saw this I liked the more modern, lighter look. I think it makes it look more like art and less like jewelry, IYKWIM.
That's really cool. I was going to suggest kind of 'sewing' it onto the board in a shadowbox with fishing line. I had some of my great-grandmother's handmade doilies mounted/framed in a similar way for my mom and grandma. I think what you did accomplishes the same look. It looks great.

Second update: The only place I could find to hang it would have looked asymmetrical, so I did a second box. This gold, turquoise, and pearl necklace I may actually wear at some point, but probably rarely enough that I can take it out of the shadowbox to wear it if needed! That is my great-grandfather's pocket watch and a few of the MANY child-sized bangles that got passed down as well.
