getting a liver transplant. I am so grateful to the donor and his or her family, and this clinic for its protocols that are giving her a second chance at life.
I realized yesterday that my stress was off the charts, with this sister, general and specific worries for each of my children, my aging MIL, an ongoing home reno nightmare, and the election. Thank god I have therapy tomorrow.
I know she has a long and difficult road ahead, but at least this fear that she’d die before a transplant is allayed. Thank you for your support and listening ears (or, reading eyes, I guess).
UPDATES: surgery is finished and she’s expected to be in a post-op room soon. ❤️
Good thoughts to you and your sister. I hope everything goes smoothly. My H goes in for some tests in a few weeks, and the Drs may be considering a heart transplant. My SIL had a kidney transplant a few weeks ago. Thank you to all the families who make these difficult decisions.

I hope everything goes well! It seems like this has all happened very quickly for her, so hopefully this will be a turning point and second (or 50th) chance for her to make some needed changes.
That previous thread about organ donation was quite the eye opener. All the most positive thoughts to the donor for their recovery, and to your sister that both her surgical recovery and alcoholism recovery go as well as they can.

I'm so happy to see this update. Sending so much love, prayers, good vibes, Care Bear stares, whatever your family needs to get through this. I hope you have a safe place to vent and process until the surgery is complete. I'm happy to PM.
Glad to see you're getting some help for yourself. I'm sure you know about company EAP, but you may be dual eligible if you need extra support. Giant (((HUGS)))
Thanks again, everyone. My BIL is forwarding on the highly impersonal texts that he receives from the medical team: “your family member or friend's procedure is underway.” “Your family member or friend’s procedure is going as expected.“ He is in for a very long day, because the surgeon said that this could take up to eight hours today.
I somehow missed the past history with your sister, but I went through almost this exact scenario with an old friend exactly a year ago. I somehow got made her POA (long story) and was intimately involved in the entire overwhelming process. I honestly think I have PTSD from my experience, as it was so difficult and honestly unbelievable to witness.
I am relieved for you and your sister; please feel free to PM me if you want to speak more about what you are going through. The entire experience is something I will never forget.

rosiebear, glad you're getting constant updates. My brother's first surgery was almost 24 hours (literally) and it was crazy waiting around. Hoping things are still going well and you're hanging in there as well as you can.
What a relief and medical marvel. I know it was heavy on your heart for what to do. I am relieved for you and wish only the best for your sister’s surgery and recovery (in more ways than one).

rosiebear, I've been thinking of you and your family. I hope today there is a positive outlook, at least for now. Hope you've finally been able to catch your breath.
