I told my cousin we should do a family address book, with bdays and anniversaries too. She was thrilled! She wants to get it together before our family Xmas party. I have no idea how to put this together though. Maybe a staple bound spine? Help here would be appreciated. The party is 12/21.
She also wanted to do family recipes, but I said that wouldn’t be realistic before the party. However, we could have people bring recipes to the party, and she was super happy about that. That we’ll probably get spiral bound.
Overall, super excited to have this come together!!!
It might be tight for getting a bunch of books bound before then. Staples might be able to do it in house for smaller amounts but I don’t think all locations can.
I ended up buying a comb binding machine when I was doing a lot of small books but that’s kind of extreme! If you lived near me, I’d let you use it!
It's been a nice weekend so far! Friday night, a couple of friends came over for drinks and we walked down to a Greek food truck to get takeout. My food took awhile (I think they forgot me) so the owner gave me a huge thing of rice pudding for free. I had never had it before and it was yummy. I had already ordered baklava so it's been a healthy weekend of Greek desserts haha.
Yesterday, we did drive up to go visit my mom and dad. My dad had shoulder surgery about 2 weeks ago. He's in a little pain but I think mostly just bored now, and I know my mom's lonely from taking care of him and not being able to go do as many things, so I think they appreciated it. We were able to go to Target after that and get some holiday sweaters and such for all the things DS has coming up in December. We were back at our house by 6 with pizza and just relaxed the rest of the night, which was much needed.
Today is the usual Sunday stuff like laundry and getting a grocery order. I want to do a few tasks like putting our patio furniture in the garage and maybe boxing up some books DS doesn't read anymore because our bookshelves are overflowing, but nothing too strenuous.
I feel like I’ve been incredibly productive this weekend, not necessarily fun, but I’ve knocked out a ton of items off my to do list. We still need to buy our TG turkey today and decorate for Christmas, but that’s all that’s on the agenda.
PSA: If anyone has a critical insurance supplemental policy through your benefits, you may be eligible for a small cash back benefit just for having a routine checkup. During open enrollment I discovered mine and my husband’s policies both offer this. $50-$100. It wasn’t widely advertised for either, but was in the fine print if you read the entire 16 page policy. lol. Perfect timing before for the holidays!
Edit: ssmjlm, buy it! I love mine and have received multiple compliments since getting it for Christmas last year. It feels pretty fool proof to me. Curl, spray, shake out and I’m done.

I’m really trying not to get mad at my 13yo but failing. He has a big book project that he has known about for a month due tomorrow. Last weekend we didn’t have much going on and instead of working on it he sat around and watched Instagram reels or did anything not to work. I repeatedly told him to get on it because he was going to have a busy week starting a sport that requires him to be at school until 6pm every day and he has a party Saturday. Of course last night right after the party he starts to not feel well and I’m sure he has whatever my ds3 had with a 102 fever. And today he still feels crummy, but his project is due regardless of whether he is in school or not (must be emailed) so I am prodding him to get it done since I’ve plied him with Motrin and he’s just staring at me, getting up to take a shower, etc. I’m constantly repeating, and this is why you shouldn’t wait until the last minute to do your work.
Ds had a basketball tournament yesterday. They lost their first game, won their 2nd game, and came back from a 20-point deficit to only lose the 3rd game by 4 points. They ended up 4th. I'm pretty proud of those boys. They played hard. 6 out of 9 of those boys are 8th graders so we'll lose them next year, which will be sad. We stopped and did a little bit of shopping on our way home.
I need to go to big city to shop for our Thanksgiving food today. I don't really want to do it on a weekend, but I'm starting to get the cold H and DS are getting over and I know I won't feel well enough to do it later in the week. Other than that, our only plan for today is to sit and watch football.

I am watching my sister’s puppy for a few hours today. I am taking videos to remind me 1. Never get a puppy and 2. Don’t get two dogs. It is absolute chaos in my house, even after taking both dogs for a long walk. (My dog is almost 8)
DH picked up our turkey today, and I started ordering food for Thanksgiving dinner. We are hosting the day before Thanksgiving, so I’m feeling like I need to get ready!

They are both asleep in my lap. The cutest thing I have ever seen.

Two dogs have their pros and cons, but when you get to snuggle both of them at once it's the absolute best!
I've had a rough day on multiple fronts. Why does family have to be so tough?
Today I cooked a turkey, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, stuffing, and some glazed carrots. It was a lot of cooking, but everything was really good! We have skipped thanksgiving completely these last few years so it was nice to eat those things again.
I have a lot of nostalgia for how this holiday used to be, especially when my grandparents were around and hosted every year. The last several years they hosted, I drove to town a day early and helped my grandma cook, so it made me think of her and miss her. She is technically alive but has bad dementia and I live out of state, so she is basically gone to me since I can't visit easily and she can't talk on the phone. Anyway, it's been 11 years since our last normal thanksgiving so it was nice to have some things that tasted like they used to.
I am super tired after all that! I slept badly last night too so I am ready for bed and it's 8:30.
