I really hope that Max Miller and other Republicans who feel the same vote with their hearts and don’t cave to pressure. As a survivor, it’s been really hard seeing all of these people who have committed rape and SA - Trump included - receive such mass public support in these positions of power. It’s not new, but it’s so VOCAL.

I feel such anxiety for the coming years, but if they refuse to confirm, it would be a very small reassurance in the midst of all of the fury and fear.

Grassley and some other Republicans have said they want to see the House Ethics Committee’s findings regarding Gaetz. Others have said the committee could call the women to testify at a confirmation hearing even if members don’t have access to the report.

“The truth is, the information is going to come out one way or the other,” Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) said Monday. “So I guess the more I thought about it, it’s not critical that they release a report, because we know roughly who the witnesses are” and will call them in front of the Judiciary Committee, he said.

Also WTF to making these women testify (we've gone that route before & it's horrific) Gaetz should testify after the report is out. I'll be so pissed if Trump is able to do recess appointemnts.

I agree with her that they should put alllllll the receipts out there. We as a country could all use a refresher in Basic Human Respect 101 and a reminder to stop electing people with horrible ethics.

Right, there's a small chance the people doing the crimes would be damaged by this, and a very good chance that the people they already harmed would be further harmed. (See Christine Blasey Ford.) I know that men and even more so men with power get away with all kinds of bad stuff, but historically there has been at least a pretense that we don't accept sexual assault, etc.

The fact that now it's no longer even a pretend black mark or a scandal and they can just keep on keepin' on with no repercussions is infuriating. I'm so angry from trying to protect myself and my loved ones on all sides. Gisele Pelicot has been so brave and she shouldn't have to be to get justice. How do we fix this?

I don’t even know if this was mentioned in another thread but I was so disturbed by the Tyson fight for many reasons….white supremacy, the rigged nature of the unfair fight, the background of the other fighter who is a previously canceled influencer, the environment at the fight being a hate rally where the POC workers were fearful of the crowd, 🍊/ Elonia being there, etc.….but then someone reminded me Tyson is also a convicted rapist who served 3 years of a 6 year sentence…and still went on to be in movies, etc. He may be a pawn and a victim of The Man who had his fortune stolen but he’s also a predator who had his crimes swept under the rug, like a lot of rich, powerful men.

I've had (non-American) friends ask if I watched. No. Fuck no. And I won't get into the myrad reasons why beyond I don't glorify watching fighting (that seems to suffice).

Someone told me her net worth has gone from very low to many millions in her short time in Congress. I need a fact check…

The only articles I can find say she mostly self funded her first campaign with 1.6 million probably from a family business of a cross-fit gym and a construction company.

Now she’s worth 22 million, 5 million in stock trading, half a million in the family construction business, etc.

Someone needs to investigate her too 👀 Sounds like her and Gaetze were involved in scandals and that’s why she knows so much…
