Article about how pedophlia should be considred a disease. Acutal pedophile comes out of nowhere saying he is attracted to children but has never acted on his yearnings. People were either eager to hear more from said pedophile or were incredibly skeeved. Now they are over there arguing about why the post was deleted, because we could have "learned" something from him.

Yeah. I had to back away without posting. Mostly because I'd have been too enraged if the statistics I would have posted and stories of the survivors I volunteer with were dismissed by the pro-"understanding" group.

Yes there is evidence that it is a disorder. It is incredibly hard to treat. Far, far more often than not there are abusive mentalities, entitlement, power and control issues mixed in with it. Those issues alone (outside of the pedo issue) are extremely difficult to treat and depending on the severity abusers with those issues are only possible to rehabilitate a fraction of the time. Pedo issues are whole other level of improbable for sucessful treatment and reintegration. The best solutions that the clinical research community have come up with are castration and removal from society.

It makes me sick that some people don't want to hear that and would rather leave defenseless children at risk.
