omfg, this race. Winds were sustained 20+ mph, with gusts up to 40 mph, and I swear to dog it didn't matter which way we turned, we were running into a headwind. Started NE... headwind. Turned NW. Headwind. Turned SW. Headwind. Now you're just effing with us. Certain (shaded) parts of the course were snow and/or ice and/or slush covered, so it felt like you were running in sand. Keeping the rubber side down is usually my objective on the bike, but this time it was a relevant consideration for a run as well.
I finished 459 of about 1200 overall with a 58:14. That's a very usual 10k time for me and a much higher place than usual, which I think speaks to the course and the day.
The finish was at a hotel with a Starbucks in the lobby. I was joking that the really baller move would have been to place my mobile order when I was about 0.5 mile out. Hot coffee ftw at the end!
