I would love to see a shelf or table or some surface behind the tub (for your stuff!), but the counter (?) in the photo seems too tall for that. So I'm voting for against the short wall, but pulled out a bit so you can add a stuff holder behind it! How is the view from that window?

The half wall is part of the shower. There will be glass there going up part way. Wherever we put the tub will have a hook for towels and maybe a basket or cart for stuff. We could pull that tub out though like you suggest and maybe do a shelf.
I like the first option so that you can enjoy the view of the sky when you're in the tub. Some top down shades would be really nice to have on those windows!
The other side that you don't see is the doorway to our closet and it would be an awkward pathway then. I had initially expected the tub to go there. We could put it there still, but the above options keep that space free.
Where are they putting the plumbing? (we had to have the decision made before the tiles went in as plumbing comes up from the floor here but not sure if that's similar in the US).

I was thinking this would be the case, too.
It's the plumbers asking me where we want the tub and they were there moving the tub in all the locations I wanted to see. The only question I had about plumbing was would pipes be visible in any location and they said it would be hidden in the tub. So my understanding is that they can hook it up anywhere we tried.

I think we are going with ny96 's suggestion. We went back out to the house last night and tried that placement and there is room to walk up to it on either side to easily get in and out. Thanks for all of the opinions! I think it's pretty common in these last stages to be all decided out, you are all kind to chime in.
I think centring it like that is the right choice just from an ease of cleaning perspective. If it’s tight to a wall it can be a pain to clean the floor around it.
I am also perplexed about the plumbing! Have they already roughed in the plumbing for it? We’ve only done one bathroom renovation, but all of the plumbing was roughed in before the walls or floors were started.

Everything is roughed in. We knew tub would be in that general area. They will drill a hole in the floor where it goes and hook up thru there. That's my very basic understanding. The tub itself is 2 parts, an inner and outer shell and thru that is how they conceal pipes.
