I found a wonderful photog here in Ohio and sent an email inquiring about prices for newborn sessions. There is $150 session fee which I think is fine but on top of that, you are required to purchase $250 worth of digital files and prints. Has anyone ever heard of that? I just want to get the cd and makes whatever copies I needed. It won't equal $250 though.
Unfortunately, I did come across that when I was looking for a newborn photographer. However, there are photogs out there that don't require that so I would just say keep looking...unless you are completely in love w/that one of course.
Yeah, I have heard of that before. There is another photographer in the town I live in that charges even more than that for a minimum print order in addition to her session fee. Which to me, is shocking that she still gets business due to the fact we live in a very depressed area. But in her defense, she does take some good photos.
I would keep looking. Higher prices =\= a better photographer. I have seen some GREAT photographers that have really reasonable rates and could definitely charge more for their services. I have also seen a TON of crap photographers who over charge and still manage to get business. It leaves me scratching my head, LOL.
I agree with Mrsjason. I have a friend of a friend who does photography to get a little extra cash since she is a stay at home mom. She charged us $75.00 for the session as well as all the pictures. And they are beautiful. She did our maternity shoot as well as our newborn shoot. Keep looking. Something will come up. I also recommend checking out craigslist. Often times new photographers who are great are looking to build their portfolio and will do sessions at a great price. Good luck!!
