I took our dog Molly to the vet and she was having heart failure and didn't have a good prognosis. I had to go by myself and it was simply so sad. I know she wouldn't have gotten better and it was a matter of days and we did the right thing. But I miss her so much. It felt mean even though I know she wouldn't have gotten better.
Her vet was also a former coworker because I had worked at this vet clinic so that was comforting.
I'm so sorry for your loss. Losing your childhood pet is extremely difficult especially when you have to make that decision. You absolutely did the right thing and although you miss her, I hope you can take comfort in knowing that she's in a better place and was able to pass with her dignity. BIG HUGS!

I feel a lot better today. I am still in shock that it seemed to have happened so fast. She was almost 11 years old so not super old.
About 1 1/2 - 2 years ago my other childhood dog, Junior, passed away and he was like 17 I think? I think that Molly started being sad and lonely and missed him.
When I picked her up yesterday to go get her checked out at the vets, she was laying near Junior's grave.

:-(
My pup was about 13 when he had to go on the Rainbow Bridge; you're never ready for them to cross over regardless of the age.
