I am going to ask my next door neighbor's son if he is willing to come over in the middle of the day and let my dogs out in the yard, sit there on the deck for 5-20 minutes, and put them back in the house.
I was going to offer $5 a visit. He is a college freshman. It's an easy gig. But does that sound like too little?
How often would he be doing this? I think that might affect my answer. A one-time gig for $5 seems low and sort of awkward to me. For that, I think you have to do $10 or $15. On the other hand, if it's every day, $35/week isn't so bad for something ridiculously easy. On an hourly basis, that's not bad. At most, in that case, i would up it to $50/week (still only $7 and change/day).
By the waay, your dogs are adorable. I want to give them both a bog hug.
Thanks! I adore them. The lab mix has all kinds of issues from being abused before I adopted him but he's a sweetie with me, he's just very shy and skittish around others.

I totally agree with this.
I would also expect the dogs to be out for 5 minutes... i can't imagine telling a college student to do something for "5-20 minutes" and gett more more than 5 of out him
Our dog sitter comes to our house 3x's a day, for $40/day... she's great and plays with them, feeds them, and lets them outside each time to run around in the back yard/poop/pee. So I think $5/visit might be a little low, though, if he is doing nothing more than truly 5 minutes of in/out - then it's good.

Thanks--I agree with you. I was looking at it more as $25 a week. Maybe I'll just offer that. Some weeks I work six days, then only work four days the next week, so there'd be some variation. Plus his class schedule may not permit it every day. Maybe offering a flat $25/week sounds better and is easier all around. Or $35!

I hear you on this. This kid is so unusual though.
I gave him an iTunes gift card for his high school graduation and he thanked me in person when I gave it to him, then he sent me a handwritten, personal thank you card through the mail (I live next door!). Last year when I was hanging out with his parents (we're friends) he came up and asked us to keep the noise down because he was studying. I worry about asking anyone else to handle my dogs (aside from a professional petsitter), but I trust this boy. He's so sweet.
