ALASSSSSKAAA! We are so super pumped.

Even if it is to Eielson and not Elmo. We generally enjoy the "smaller town" feel so, I think Fairbanks will be a better fit. And LOL that it is the 2nd largest city (2nd to Anchorage) at 35k. Love.Love.Love.

Will you be going to Osan at all? It's actually fairly liveable for families, especially compared to Kunsan.

I'll try to find out information from H about his former boss. We know he's planning on retiring to Alaska, and his wife stayed behind while he was on an unaccompanied tour so that she could open a liquor store. I think they have some sort of b&b, too. I'm pretty sure they're near Fairbanks, not Anchorage.

Random sibil family factoid: My FIL went to Fairbanks for college, and H was born in AK. His grandparents were teachers/superintendent in AK schools back in the 60s, and they had stories of how incredibly remote it was. Apparently, according to grandma, a roll of paper towels was one of your most important tools for getting traction on ice.

Still, while I love skiing and thought Anchorage was a great city, I really don't think I could handle the long winter without sun. I'm quite prone to SAD.
