I'm still working on that Highland Blessings freebie book because I put it aside to read a couple of other things this week. I'm hoping to finish it today so I can get on with my life and read something better. I did really like one of the books I read this week, though-- Casting Spells by Barbara Bretton. I recommend it for anyone who loves knitting and supernatural stuff and romance.

I'm a little all over the place right now. I was suppose to be reading Bent Road for my IRL book club but never made it very far. Nothing wrong with it. Ill still read it even though our meeting is tonight. I am also reading the first Mary Poppins book. It's one of my all time favorite movies. Thought I should check out the books. It's cute and I can imagine kids liking it. Probably won't read the others in the series.
I am reading The Likeness by Tana French. I am about halfway through and I don't love it yet. I really liked In the Woods (the first in the series) and The Likeness got even better reviews on Goodreads so I am not sure what I am missing.

I'm about to finish The Midwife of Hope River by Patricia Harman. It's really interesting, despite the few editing errors that have annoyed me. The author is a midwife, so it definitely draws from her experiences though the story is set in the 30s.
I'll probably start The Casual Vacancy once I finish that.

I finished Days of Splendor, Days of Sorrow this week - it's the second in Juliet Grey's Marie Antoinette trilogy. I liked it better than the first; I think the pacing was a bit better.
Now I'm reading Bring Up the Bodies, the sequel to Wolf Hall. It's good, but I am having the same difficulty I had when I was initially reading WH, in that there's a lot of "he said/did/whatevered" and you have to try and figure out what she's talking about. (Most of the time it's Cromwell, but not always.)

I finally finished Game of Thrones. It was so slow. Overall probably a good story, but Martin really needs to edit himself...not sure I will continue with the series. I feel like I want to know what happens, but not sure I can spend 3 months+ per book to find out.
Just started The Alienist - liking it so far. It is a little grisly though...I don't tend to do well with grisly, so we'll see.
Would like to read Frankenstein for Halloween - I have it free on my nook so will give that a go soon to.

I'm finishing up the Battle of the Labyrinth (4th Percy Jackson and the Olympians book) and FINALLY finished The Pillars of the Earth last night. It was pretty good, it was just so long. It felt really long. I think it didn't need to be that long.
I'm also listening to Moby Dick as part of the Big Read, and I will probably start The Magician King this weekend.
I'm still listenting to A Storm of Swords, just haven't had much time to devote to it this week. Hopefully I'll be able to get back into it soon.
I started a short story that I'm hoping to finish today, it's Swim by Jennifer Weiner. I've neverreally read anything from her so I'm interested. So far it's pretty good. It was a kindle freebie a while back.
I'm also at the very beginning of the latest Richard Castle/Nicki Heat novel. It's good. A little over the top, but highly enjoyable. I'm hoping to finish that this weekend so I can get back to Anna Karenina and get ready to reread Emma.

I ordered Macbeth for a class, but then it was changed to A Midsumernight's Dream. Today I finally said, "I paid for it, I'm reading it." I need to get myself more psyched up about Shakespeare before I inevitably have to teach it next year. I am also thinking I'm going to do the big read, as well.
I just finished Beautiful Creatures and really liked it. I'm reading Call the Midwife and The Lucky One now and like them both and about to start Dracula for a book club but it's a reread.
I'm still working on LOTR. I might put it aside for Oct though since I like to read more paranormal/horror books to get in the mood for Halloween. Plus I'll be starting Emma too:)

I'm about 5 chapters from finishing The Betrayal of the Blood Lily. I'm really enjoying it, but I think I should have re-read the last of the previous episode, because I have forgotten how the main characters were introduced and what their scandal was.

Audio - Let the Great World Spin It's good. But it's bothering me that the character of the tightrope walker. I recently saw the documentary Man on Wire about the guy and they just don't seem like the same people to me.
Kindle - An Echo in the Bone Is it weird I didn't get into this series until the last couple books? It took me years, literally, to get through the first four Outlander books. I've flown throw the rest though and know I'll be sad when they are over.
Kindle - Unweaving the Rainbow: Science, Delusion, and the Appetite for Wonder - It's ok. I don't find it that challenging though, because I already agree with the author. (atheism/science/evolution/religion related) The book probably would have blown my mind when I was in college though. I like the sections about science inspiring poetry. I've always found science incredibly beautiful.
