It was on in the background while I was having dinner with my neighbors. I was not interested enough to fully pay attention, but that doesn't mean much. I'm sure H and I will watch it when it becomes available on Hulu.

Dh watched the trailer, was laughing the whole way through. I think he just couldn't believe how absolutely not at all like real submarine life it was.

I don't remember what type of sub that's supposed to be but it's so.....roomy. I mean, people can pass each other in the hall.
Someone mentioned to me that it plays out like an episode of Lost and I would agree. I enjoyed Lost and I did appreciate certain elements of the story line of this show. The whole "what would you do" concept is kind of fun. I found it a little bit challenging to get past the odd culture of that crew compared to DH's boat and I didn't feel like I needed the reminder that sea warfare is not as clean and neat as people tend to believe.
We watched it and thought it was pretty good. H has a hard time watching anything Navy related without calling out all the inconsistencies to real life. When we watch NCIS it's the same way. I never watched Lost but we both watched The Event when it was on and liked it, and I know that was kind of similar to Lost with the whole thing of never knowing what's going on. Basically it's one of few shows shows that H is interested in so we'll keep watching it.
I think H is a little confused how show's like this work though, and that you'll never fully understand what's going on. When we watched The Event it was taking a mid season break when he left for deployment. The last episode he saw ended with "when The Event returns in February" and he got pissed and said "nooo, now I'll have to wait til after deployment to know what the Event really is." I just laughed at his head pat moment, and told him he will probably never find out what it really is.

This! It was supposed to be a boomer, but still. Apparently they get to watch TV while they are underway, DH was jealous.
I know they were trying to highlight having women onboard since it's such a new thing, but they were obnoxious. Flirting with superiors and walking around half naked, I don't really think that's the image female submariners want.

Oh yeah, my face almost hit the desk at being able to just flip through TV channels to watch the news. Or let's talk about catastrophically running the sub into the ocean floor and then just getting up and swimming away like no big deal.
I liked it and will continue to watch. I don't know Navy so I can't critique that aspect of it. Of course some parts aren't realistic and exaggerated but that's part of why people will watch.
