Do they work well on hardwood? We are moving in a little over a month and our new place has mostly hardwood, with some cork and a tiny bit of carpet. I decided today that our crappy vacuum is, well, too crappy. We have two cats, one long haired, and they make a bloody mess. I don't want to invest in a Dyson if it really only works on carpets when we barely have any carpets...thoughts?
I use the hose/wand w/a Hard Floor tool on our wood floors w/the Dyson and it works wonderfully (the hard floor tool is also nice and low and small so it really gets under furniture and stuff too).

My ILs use theirs on the floors. You can't use the brush on any hard surface. I'm not sure why further than I recall reading it in the manual and when I forget to turn it off, it just flings the small stuff around instead of picking it up. Which hurts when it's a small rock.
We have it and it scratched the laminate in our old apartment. We're also a bit disappointed with it's performance given the price tag. It doesn't have enough suction IMO.
We have one. We had all carpet up until last month. It's done fine on the new laminate, though I usually just sweep. Do make sure you're turning off the brush, though!
We have 2 cats and a dog and the cat hair is RIDICULOUS around here and we've loved the Dyson. I love my dad's Rainbow more but that's a LOT more expensive.
