That is too funny! I laughed when I read the Duggar Wannabe Mom because I always ask myself "What would Michelle Duggar do?" She always seems so calm and peaceful. So when my baby boy is SCREAMING during the middle of the night, I think "What would Michelle say?"...She'd probably say something like "I'm so fortunate my son feels like he can express himself so freely" and it usually makes me laugh
That was funny. I'm probably slightly Dugger mom and a little bit Pinterest mom but not fully any of them. I think they left out a few moms. I can't stand "What ever" mom. She's the one who forgets she brought a kid with her. Meanwhile, her kid is beating up the other kids, has colored all over the hostesses couch, and raided the refrigerator.
I despise the Duggars so I hope I'm not like them, but I do shop at Costco and buy all of Bean's clothes at a consignment sale. That'll change in a year or two though when she gets too old for it.
If anything I'd say I'm the Pinterest mom, minus the homemade clothing. I have no where near enough skill for that, but I did make curtains and a bed skirt for her nursery.

Let's see. Michelle wouldn't do anything b/c after she weans at 6 months, she hands the child off to one of the older girls (nicknamed the J'Slaves in certain online communities).
And she's not calm, she's "sweet" as mandated by the gothard form of religion/cult they follow. They are well aware of the cameras and how to present themselves. Don't forget, these are people who believe in blanket training, and who don't raise children, they train them. Just watch an episode to see how often they say train rather than any other word like teach or raise. It's deliberate.

Blanket training where they sit the infant on a blanket and hit the child if it moves off, sometimes with an implement. It's promoted as biblical training. Internet speculation is that the younger children actually weren't trained at all as the cameras are on them so regularly. This would explain the wildness of the younger boys. However, Jordyn not crying when she got her head stuck makes it seem like such harsh discipline is still practiced. The internet is undecided.

I don't watch L&O, sorry.
Blanket training stuff has been around awhile, so it wouldn't surprise me that there was an episode on it.
I know there have been real news reports on deaths in families that follow the Pearls (How to Train Up a Child) that promotes not just blanket training but other corporal discipline. The Duggars list the Pearls' book as a recommended resource.
Babywise also promotes blanket training, but later editions have toned down the physical discipline parts.
Really, I despise that TLC whitewashes the realities of Duggers and their gothard/ati beliefs.

Oh my god. I was half-joking, but this is horrible! I haven't really watched this show except for a few minutes here and there. How sad. I did notice that all of the kids seemed to be working ALL THE TIME. I had no idea what blanket training was even. Poor little Duggar kids

Piper, you wouldn't have gotten an inkling of it from watching the show. Quiverfull fundies are kind of a hobby of mine. I've read quite a few books on them (quiverfull), and I follow a number of blogs from former members, both children raised in the practice and moms who have left.
If you really want to get my goat, say you like them because "they're just so happy." And then duck while I rant

This is all shocking to me. How have I never heard of this Quiverfull you speak of before?! I'm intrigued. I will need to do some research.

Man, that's just not what blankets should be used for. I'm not at all opposed to new and interesting parenting techniques, but there has got to be a better way to convince a child to behave.
