So how doable is Venice in November? We may have family visiting for Thanksgiving, so it would be a good time to get away without our daughter for a few days. But if I am just going to be freezing my butt off, then I may as well save that trip and escape somewhere closer to where we live.

I was in Venice about 2 weeks before Thanksgiving last year, and I thought the weather was perfect. It was probably mid to high 60s, which was great for all the running around the city we did - not too hot, not too cold. All I needed was a light jacket, and that was enough for me (I think I actually carried it most of the time, instead of wearing it). I'm not sure if that was a freak year, though, or if it would be much worse a couple weeks later, but I'd say go for it.

I went to Venice at Thanksgiving years ago. It POURED. I mean POURED. It was nothing but a giant game of chicken with your umbrellas on those little table things that they put up for to walk on when it floods. I don't remember it being that cold though.

This sounds pretty terrible in a city that is already surrounded by water. Eek. I'll take a look at average rainfall that time of year.
