Yesterday at my BIL's house we discovered my son can climb stairs, we don't know where he learned to do this because we don't have stairs in our house. Is this weird or normal? Is my kid a genius? (obviously) Or does my kid have no fear whatsoever, (which he has demonstrated numerous times in his short little life) and I am in for some hell the older he gets.

Of course your son is genius! We don't have stairs either, but it always amazed me how my son would be drawn to them. I think toddlers are very curious and love to climb.
How was he on going down? My son always loved going up, but was very cautious coming down (even now he prefers to wait for a hand if the stairs aren't carpeted).

Your son is obviously a genius. I would be scared to have a climber. My SIL taught her kids that when going down stairs, they need to go backwards. That makes them hold on to the step above them and prevents them from nosediving forwards down the stairs.
