yes, when your IT band is loose. It always hurts the worst when my IT band is really tight - I'm crazy about stretching my IT band though, so foam rolling isn't as horrible as it could be. After I run I do about 3 different types of IT band stretches, then I foam roll. It's always last bc by then it's nice and stretched out and not AS painful.
