When you change lo diaper do you wipe even if it's just pee? My sister complained once that her bf's sister never wipe her kids junk off during diaper changes if they didn't poop. I thought it was weird too. I always wipe. I mean, there's pee all over too. My MIL just changed lo's diaper and it was just pee and she didn't wipe his diaper area and now I'm annoyed. Am I being ridiciulous?? Do you wipe every time? Am I being a wipe waster?

I don't wipe for pee - just poop. If I had a girl I might reconsider, but I try to avoid excess wiping since it's so drying. And the dry skin can be really irritating.
I don't understand... Do you people not wipe yourselves each time? Why is it different for babies? They SIT in it...definitely wipe any baby ive changed.

Not every time. If it is a really wet diaper, I always do. If it is only a little wet, I don't. Both on mine have sensitive skin and the wet wipes are really drying.
For poop, always and I usually go through several wipes.

I can't speak for all "us people" but personally, I haven't had a diaper rash in almost 30 years, so it's okay for me to wipe with a dry piece of toilet paper each time I use the restroom. My kid? Not so much.
And if it helps you - most of the adult males I know don't wipe when they urinate.

If you change them soon after they pee the diaper pretty much wicks most of the moisture away from the skin so no need to wipe. All you do with a wipe is add moisture that can create a diaper rash.
And yes I have watched my MIL not wipe with just a pee diaper before DD was born and I was upset. I am not shy about reminding her flat out when she babysits.
Unless the diaper is absolutely soaked or it looks like Desitin is in order, I generally don't wipe for pee, especially if I'm in a hurry. Poop, on the other hand, often requires several wipes (we had a blowout yesterday that nailed her bouncy chair and required a bath!).
I've never wiped him for pee. He's never really had diaper rash. I just don't really see the point - the diaper wicks the pee away, the new diaper is dry and wicks any little dribbles away. I don't like making work for myself. Obviously he's not suffering or his skin would be upset.
And yes, I've been flamed for my shoddy parenting before. It has not reformed my non-wiping stance.

nope- with 3 kids in diapers for a period of time- you don't wipe when not needed, or you would go through wipes even faster than you already do
diapers are very good at wicking away moisture - so unless they have been in it for a long time (overnight) or they appear wet - i don't wipe for the average pee change.

Hmm, seems like we are pretty split on it. I worry about him smelling like pee. He goes days sometimes between pooping, so I couldn't imagen not wiping him that whole time. I use sensitive wipes and they don't seem to dry his skin out.

But you bathe him right? I wipe in the morning because she's usually been wearing the diaper 8+ hours and times when her skin looks wet but most of the time she looks dry when I take the diaper off and we've never had a pee issue. I think I'm more concerned with over wiping with Lo because I feel like more wiping means more chance of UTI and there are all those folds of skin that might get irritated. With boys it's just the upper thighs and around the sack.
I wipe in the morning since she's had the same diaper on all night, or if her skin is damp (meaning the diaper didn't absorb all the pee) Otherwise, no.

I don't bathe him every day. I think giving him a bath every day would dry out his skin more than wiping every diaper.
